*ELI'S POV*
A week has passed since I last ran into Vanessa and Evan. Vanessa never texted me, which I'm slightly relieved by. I don't mind catching up with her. It's just Evan I'm worried about. Despite our friendly goodbyes when I told them I was leaving and moving away, I had a feeling that Evan was still mad at me. I couldn't blame him though. I'd be mad at me too. If I hadn't left them then maybe the others wouldn't have gotten hurt so bad. But then again, if I hadn't left then my aunt might've found me dead in some ditch somewhere instead of our living room.
I shake my head hoping these thoughts will go away with it. I haven't heard from or seen them in a week. They've probably left town already. And I'm sure Evan isn't as mad anymore. I mean... no one died anyway. And we didn't lose... But we didn't win either.
Fuck.
I can feel my hands shaking. I need a smoke. No. I need something stronger than that. I need a real smoke. No.
...
No.
I need Sam.
I push every thought of my stash in my nightstand away because if I don't, I feel like I'll smoke in a day what should be for a month. I've gotten this far. I can't stumble now.
My hands still shaking, I reach out for my phone. I was about to call Sam when a thought flashed through my mind. What if he sees her? What if he's still here and he sees her?
No.
He's gone. They've been gone a week. And so what if he does see her? What's he gonna do?
What is he going to do?
It's been a year but... Evan is intense. The kind of intense that creeps up on you. The kind that hides behind a shadow. A shadow you'll only see if you're a shadow as well.
...
...
...
Ring.
I jump. Someone's calling me. I look down at my phone.
Sam.
I exhale a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"H-hey." Calm your voice, Eli.
"Helloooo! I was out in town earlier with my family and I saw that the yogurt shop had a special promo today. Very Berry Delights! Strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, have one berry and get another one for free! Wanna meet me there?" Sam says quickly in a cheery voice as if she was doing a commercial on a time limit.
I laugh to myself. My shaky voice the only reminder of my worries. "A-alright. I'll see you the-ere."
"Good. Coz I'm actually already here."
"What?"
"Yeah, I lied. I was going to surprise you and bring you one home but then I saw the promo and--"
"Alright, alright. I'll be there. Breathe."
She laughs. I imagine her eyes twinkling. I smile to myself.
"I'll be there in fifteen minutes."

Twelve minutes later and I'm in front of the yogurt shop. I could just see Sam sitting right by the window. I smile to myself. I take a step to cross the road when--
"I guess I'm not the only one who's excited for some yogurt."
The voice sends a chill down my spine. It was a voice I could never forget. I heard it almost every day and every night sending instructions to my ear. It was a voice I never forgot even before I heard it again last week.
Evan.
A/N: Here's the update you've been waiting for FetcHtheWilDog :))
So I tried to give a sneak peek into how Eli's mind would spiral during her dark year. And what do you guys think Evan wants?
