*SAM'S POV*
It was lunchtime so the girls and I headed to Eli's locker. We heard the boys planning on doing something after the little confrontation Brendan had this morning so we decided to see what they did and hopefully catch Eli's reaction. I figured I'd let the boys do the initial work. Tire out the prey. See how she reacts and plan my attacks accordingly.
A group of people had already formed but we easily walked through them to glance at the lockers. A bunch of words were spray-painted on it.
"Well, that's original. What year are they living in?" Kate says, crossing her arms as we took our spot to the side.
I roll my eyes, "Stupid and backwards but it sends a message. Minus points for lack of creativity. But hey, if it affects her then it's fine by me."
"Here she is," Jane nudges us and we immediately put on our bitch face.
Eli makes her way through the crowd. Does she look excited? And stands in front of her locker. Everyone was quietly waiting for her to react when suddenly she laughs. She fucking full on laughs. She turns around with actual tears of laughter in her eyes and says, "You should add 'pansexual' to your vocabulary. I also identify as that." Then she walks away still laughing.
"She's a fucking weirdo I'm telling you," one of Brendan's teammates says. Brendan, clearly looking annoyed, stomped away.
"Looks like this one's gonna be hard to crack," Jane says looking at me. Kate was just amused at the whole thing.
"Don't worry, girls. We're smarter and more patient than those boys," I say winking at them.
After lunch we split up to our respective classes. Ugh, why do I always have the most boring classes after lunch?
I take my usual seat just wanting for this hour to be finished already. As a silent rule, nobody seats next to me so-- wait! What if she's also in this class? Well that would make it less boring. What? Shut up. I look at the door anxiously and sure enough a certain short-haired girl enters. She looks cute in that outfit. Oh my god shut up, brain! She smiles and starts walking towards me.
"Hey there, beautiful," she says taking the seat next to me.
Oh hell no. I glare at her and say, "Disgusting! Stay away from me!"
She looks at me with a shocked expression. "Don't tell me you're homophobic? What year is it already?"
"Well-- no-- I just don't want you to sit here," I stammered. I don't really care about all that but why would I care if she thought that I did?
"Too late, this is the only available seat," she says smiling while crinkling her eyes. Cute. Wait what?!
"No it's not. There's--" Before I could protest the teacher asks us to settle down and begins the discussion.
I continued to give her death stares every now and then but like yesterday, she just ignored me. We were halfway through class when I felt her lean towards me and whisper, "So I never really found out your name. I know you're Ms. Anderson but what's your first name?" And I swear if I hadn't practiced meditation I would've exploded on her then and there.
I compose myself and angrily whisper, "Are you fucking serious?"
She just gives me an innocent look and shrugs.
After a moment of thinking and realizing that she's not going to drop this act, if it is an act, which either way I will not have anyone walking about this school not knowing who I am, I say annoyed, "It's Sam."
"Sam. Interesting name. And as beautiful as you."
I did not expect her to say that. But before I could tell her to fuck off she looks at me seriously, puts a finger on her mouth, and points towards the front as if telling me to shut up and listen to class. I look at the board and think to myself how the hell does this girl make me so angry and flustered at the same time?!
