30.

It's one thing to be a best friend, and it's another thing to be a stage best friend.

I struggled as I grabbed some bobby pins from the stack I held between my lips and tried to attach the final flower to Emerald's hair. "Hold still," I said with clenched teeth as I twisted her head down and then up, trying to fix the flower on the right spot.

"You know A, you are the greatest human being ever created," Emerald said as she added the final glitter make up on her face.

I finally removed the bobby pins from my mouth and looked sideways before wiping some bit of saliva on my pants. Hey, they could use these next time and they don't have to know what happened to these pins before, and besides it wasn't like I got all my essence on there.

"Just nail your part on stage and I won't ever regret doing this for you," I replied as I replaced the bobby pins back to its box. Again, no one has to know.

"Don't worry, I've got my game on. I'll show them and I'll show that Satan spawn by the name of Ezra Levine. I'll show him what he's missing." Emerald said the last part in a murmur but it was still loud enough for me to hear.

It was hard to imagine Emerald so angry while she was wearing a shimmery blue and purple dress with matching fairy wings, but then the rest of the actors rushed in the room. Emerald's eyes finally met Ezra's and I swear, she just looked like Elphaba, the wicked witch of the west, dressed up in a fairy's costume.

"Alright everyone," Ms. Speck, the drama coach, said as she entered the room with her heels clicking against the hard floor. She's young, most probably in her late twenties and even for her age she still looks vivacious with her flaming red hair and womanly curves.

All of our attention was now on Ms. Speck as she eyed all her students with great expectations, "do well on stage and just have fun. Give a good show and make sure that this would be a memorable one for the audience."

Everyone cheered and I just felt really out of place, so I slowly slipped away from Emerald and the group and dashed out of the little room behind the auditorium and headed towards an empty seat on the third row.

A figure took the seat beside me and guess how cliché this could get. As soon as I turned my head sideways, the face of a smiling Aiden Walker met my gaze. I shook my head in disbelief. My life could just be a teen fiction novel if it want too.

"Popcorn?" He said as he shook the box of popcorn in front of my face.

"No thanks," I answered nonchalantly.

"It's cheese flavored."

I raised my brow at him and then glanced at the bucket he was holding in front of me, "fine." I grabbed a handful of popcorn and began stuffing them one by one in my mouth.

"Show's about to start," Aiden said with an excited tone as he leaned comfortably against his chair.

Ms. Speck introduced the characters first before the play started, and when Emerald's name was called, Aiden and I cheered as loudly as we could from our seats. Emerald must have noticed us because she looked at our direction and waved.

"I thought she said her role was just a fairy," Aiden said in amazement, "she didn't say she was Titiana."

I rolled my eyes. I just hope he doesn't spoil the play for me by blurting out the next scenes and stuff like that.

Finally, the play started and Aiden grasped my arm with such pressure that I had to turn to him. "What?" I demanded.

"They're going to start the play with the wedding," he said. He looked so excited, it was starting to freak me out.
