"Oh my, you're getting married?!" gulat na tanong ni Doctor Bautista.

I smiled at her reaction. "Yes, Doc. I hope you can come."

"Of course! I wouldn't miss it for the world!" she exclaimed, excited. "Oh, and you're leaving pala?"

Tumango ako kay Doktora. I issued a resignation for her clinic since matatapos ns ngayong linggo ang clinic ko, and by then, I'd be working there already. I had to let go of my job here.

"Opo, Doc. I'm finishing up with my clinic, and I'll be working there in no time," nakangiting kuwento ko.

"Aw, I'm so proud of you!" Doktora pouted, holding both of my hands. "Don't worry, you can leave at any time you want to. Ako'ng bahala sa'yo."

Napangiti ako. Doctor Bautista has been the best to me. She has always been so supportive, and her optimism never failed to cheer me up. Kung tutuusin ay sobrang suwerte kong naging boss ko siya kahit sa maikling panahon lang.

"Thank you, Doc. I owe you a lot." pagpapasalamat ko, smiling at her.

"Anytime, my dear."

I left the office after that conversation. I fumbled with my bag, trying to fish out my car keys as I walked out of the clinic. Naging mabagal tuloy ang lakad ko dahil nakapako sa bag ang aking tingin.

"Eunice?"

Napatigil ako sa paglalakad nang marinig kong may tumawag sa'kin. I lifted my gaze to see who it was, and my mouth gaped as I saw Ace in front of me.

"Zamora," nakangiting tawag ko sa kaniya.

"Long time, no see," Ace chuckled bago siya nakipagkamay sa'kin. "'Musta, Doc?"

"Perfectly fine! How about you?" I asked back after shaking his hand.

"Ayos lang," kibit-balikat niya. "Free ka? Kape tayo."

Since I was basically free the whole day, I agreed to have coffee with him. We hopped into our own cars and drove to a nearby coffee shop. Nang makarating kami roon ay agad kaming humanap ng ma-uupuan.

"Patapos na pala'ng clinic mo? Bilis, ah!" manghang ani Ace, sipping on his coffee.

"Kaya nga, eh," sang-ayon ko. "By the way, free ka ba next month? Punta ka sa kasal ko."

Nanlaki naman ang mata niya. "Ha?!"

I laughed at his reaction. Mukhang gulat na gulat. I can't blame him, though. Kaunti pa lang ang nakakaalam na ikakasal kami dahil hindi pa kami nag-a-announce o namimigay ng invitations. We'll probably get to that by next week.

"Seryoso? You're getting married?!" Ace reassured, still in shock. Tumango naman ako na mas ikinigulat niya pa. "Hala, gagi. Kanino?"

"Kay Jaiden," I answered.

"Shit, ang tatag," napahawak sa sariling dibdib na aniya. "Congrats! Sana all naman diyan."
