Backstory: Planet was destroyed by Thanos, when he was a cub. Landed on an unfamiliar planet and was found as a wanted criminal, for stealing food for survival, by Yondu Udonta. Yondu saw greatness in him and took him to become a ravager, and soon grew up as one. Later, they met Quill, and Slade became his partner.
Character: Kind of sweet, but mostly upset. And kind of a worrier, for Quill and himself.
