Chapter 1

Chase: Want anything from dunkin?

Avery: yes please!! medium iced coffee with coconut swirl and almond milk. Love you, see you soon♡

I put down my phone and turned on the shower.

Life couldn't have been better. Chase and I had just recently moved to Utah. Emma moved out here too with us. Her and Ella do not live too far from us. We both needed a fresh start. Colorado and California held too many painful memories. I love it here. Our apartment is cute and cozy and perfect for a fresh start. I finished college last May. I started my new job this September and I absolutely love it. It's an outreach program for teens struggling. It is really rewarding. I wash my hair and finish up in the shower.I put on a rob and put my hair up in a towel.

I feel a chill come through the air. I look and the bedroom window was open. I never opened this window. Hm. I guess I did and just forgot? I couldn't help but feel paranoid. I tried push the thought from my head away.

I hear the door unlock. Chase was home!

I run to the door and rush into his open arms.

"Hi baby." He smiles at me and kisses me.

"Hi!! Thank you for this. I needed it." I take a sip of the coffee.

"Emma and I are going shopping in a little bit." I smile at him.

"Do you want me to watch Ella?" He grins

He was amazing with Ella. He absolutely loved her.

"Plus I think Evan was going to come over. You know he loves to see Emma." He laughs.

Evan was one of Chase's new friends from the gym. It was a bit hard making new friends. When people realized who I was. "The kidnapped girl" or "The kidnapped bride." Evan didn't even care about that. He was just an easy go lucky guy. He met Emma when she stopped over one time. He was practically drooling over her beauty. They clicked instantly. It didn't bother him that she had a child or her situation. He was just happy to talk to her.

"Oh yes! Tell him to come! Emma and I are going shopping in an hour. You guys should meet us somewhere and we can go to happy hour!" I exclaim.

"That sounds wonderful, I'll text him."

I can't help but admire his face. He was so handsome and charming. I gave him a big kiss. I loved him so much.

We were still figuring out a date for the wedding. I was more than happy to be getting married but the whole planning process had brought up some trauma from before. We were taking it slow, day by day.

"Oh babe?" I look up at him.

"Yeah?" He has that grin on his face while he runs his hands through his hair.

"Did you open the window in the bedroom by chance?"

It was still stressing me out.

"No I did not." He walks into the living room and plops down on the couch.

I definitely just opened it this morning and forgot. I was being silly. Just overreacting.

I went into the bathroom to get myself ready for the day. 30 minutes later Emma and Ella arrive. Ella is just over a year. Absolutely precious. Blonde little curly q's with hazel eyes and the cutest chubby face. She was even walking now. I wondered if it was harder for Emma. She had a constant reminder of Ryan. I know she tried not to think about it and that she loved Ella more than anything, but I don't know it has to be hard.

I can hear Ella's laughter fill the living room.

Chase was playing Ella's favorite game. He would pretend to leave and come sneak up on her. She thought it was the funniest thing.

"Hi!" I squeal to Emma and wrap her in a hug.

"Hey!! You look great!" She smiles.

"Thank you. So do you." I smile at her.

"Ready to go?" I ask Emma as I grab my purse.

"Yup!" She grins.

"I can watch Ella if you want. Evan is coming over soon. Av and I were wondering if you guys wanted to meet after you guys finished shopping and go to happy hour."

Emma's face goes from excited to panicked.

"WAIT! Evan is coming?! I need to fix my hair and makeup!" She squeals.

Chase and I both look at each other and laughed.

I was so happy she found someone she liked.

"Ok how about this dress??" I come out of the dressing room.

It was a purple satin dress that hit my mid thigh.

"YOU'RE HOT!" She laughs.

I can't help but laugh too.

"Damn girl work it."
Emma and I both look at each other and turn to the voice who said it.

It was a guy with dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes. He smiled at both of us. Why did he look familiar?

My thoughts were interrupted.

"Sorry I'm trying on things too and I saw you come out of the fitting room and you just looked great."He smiled at us.

I looked at the clothes in his hands.

"You have pretty good taste too." I laugh.

"I'm Avery and this is Emma." I put my hand out for him to shake.

"I'm Robbie." He shakes my hand back.

"Are you two new here? I don't think I've ever seen you around town." He looks us up and down.

I froze up with anxiety. He didn't know who we were?"

"Yeah we actually just moved here about a month ago." Emma told him.

"I'd love to show you both around town sometime!" He smiled at us.

This was the first time in forever someone didn't know who we were. It really was time for a fresh start.

We exchanged numbers with him and continued to shop. We met up with the guys. Emma and Evan of course hit it off. I hoped he would ask her out soon. I know she was dying for him too.

I went to bed with a smile that night. This was my first friend I have made since I got here. It was so nice knowing that someone did associate us as the kidnapped girls. Maybe he did know who we were, but I was relieved to know he didn't say anything.

Things really were working out great here in Utah. I was genuinely happy with life. A Liam-less life.
