Kelly

"Bye Derek," I signed off as I got out the car.

"See ya Kelly," he smiled. The door was closed for me and he drove off.

I walked inside the gates, feeling achieved. College was definitely a challenge. It's not easy in general, but I swear being the president's daughter made it even more difficult.

"Kelly!" I heard someone yell behind me. The voice sounded awfully familiar. I turned around to look and saw a familiar face.

"Alaine?" I gasped, "oh my God it's been forever."

"Yeah you can say that again. How are you?" she asked me with a bright smile. She always had a smile that could make you feel so welcomed.

"I'm great, I can't really complain. What about you? What happened to you I like stopped seeing you around and basically lost contact with you I feel so bad," I pouted.

"My parents decided to start a business, and they had some connections in Michigan so we decided to all move there. I recently came back, I'm here for a visit. Then I gotta go back in a couple weeks to finish off my course and graduate," she bounced her shoulders, excited she was about to finish college.

"Oh that's fantastic. I graduate in a couple months too," I smiled.

"That's amazing. And what happened to you? You stopped coming to school for like three months. I think it was more, I had moved at that time. Did it have something to do with that assassination scare at that gala you and your family attended?" she asked, her eyes wanting to know even more.

"Yeah. After that my dad thought it would be best to do online school. I was off campus for nine months," I explained. What I said was partially true. I also had to half my time into my spy training. A good year and half spent on training, tests and simulated missions. So there was no way I could be on campus full time with that going on.

"And what happened to that bodyguard of yours? Umm, what was his name again?" she asked.

"Grayson," my voice dropped, "yeah he actually is no longer with us. That attack at the gala claimed his life."

Another reason why I couldn't go to school for nine months. I just couldn't bare human contact while I was still mourning his death.

"I'm so sorry," she cooed and hugged me tightly, "I can understand how tough it must be for you. You guys really seemed in tune."

"Yeah we did," I huffed.

"So you haven't been seeing anyone since then?" she questioned, holding the ends of my hair and twirling them.

"I haven't really had the time," I chuckled.

"You know, only if you're into it, you should meet up with Cole again, see if maybe there's a spark there," she nudged me.

"Oh yeah, Cole. What actually happened to him? I also stopped seeing him after some time," I stated.

"Crazy, turns out we're actually cousins," she laughed, "you know one of those times where you go to a large family gathering and you see someone you know and you actually find out you guys are related."

"Oh wow. I would've never expected that," I gasped.

"Yeah same here. Well anyways, both our parents came up with the idea so they both decided to move everyone to Michigan. He's actually in Toronto right now, doing some basketball training but he's going to be coming down to Washington in a few days. Maybe I could set it up for you two?" her eyes gleamed. She really seemed to have faith in Cole and I.

"Um," I stumbled. I was hesitant. Cole and I didn't end on good terms. So I wasn't sure if he was even going to what to patch things up and try again.

"Come on," she flashed her puppy dog eyes.

"Fine," I chuckled.

"Yay!" she exclaimed and took my phone which was in my hand, "I gave you my number and texted you so I'm gonna save it and talk to Cole and set it up."

"Thanks," I smiled, "listen I gotta run but it was great seeing you."

"It was great seeing you too honey. I'll see you soon," she hugged me and walked away.

Maybe things were started to look up after all.
