Kelly

"Kelly," I heard my mom's voice through the door.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Your father wants to see you," she replied.

"Okay," I said. I got up from my desk and left my room, going downstairs.

"Dad," I knocked on his office door.

"Come in pumpkin," he ordered.

I opened the door and came in. My dad was sitting at his desk, looking at files and working.

"You wanted to see me dad?" I asked.

"Yes sit down," he ordered and I did as instructed.

"Officer LeBlanc told me he gave you your first assignment yesterday," he began.

"Yes," I nodded slowly, unsure which direction this conversation was heading in.

"Care to tell me what it is?" he asked.

"Dad I took an oath remember. You were there. To keep the confidentiality of my intel and reason for mission," I recited, "so I can't tell you. I'm sorry."

"Are you sure you're ready to go on missions? I mean you are graduating from college in two months, don't you want to focus on that instead of this world of espionage where we're unaware of what's going on? You can imagine how we, as your parents, feel about not knowing what's going on in your life," he explained.

"It's not like you guys knew before all this anyways. You two were too busy getting a seat in office to even pay attention to what my life was like back then. And I'm very capable of doing both, college and spying.  I was sent to training. I went through gruelling tests and trials in order to come to where I am now and my commanding officer has faith in me and so does the service. Why can't you guys be the same?" I questioned.

"I know what this is all about honey," he stated.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"After Grayson died, it took a toll on you. You think that taking up this position of protection is a way to fill the void he left in being your protector," he elaborated on his statement.

"Dad," I started to tear up, "why do you always have to make things so complicated?"

"Kelly I just want to let you know that Grayson will always be protecting you. You just have to know he is always with you," he said.

I stood up and walked out of the office. I went up to my room and shut the door. I slid down the door and felt my throat close up. I was going into panic mode.

Getting over Grayson's death was the hardest thing I had ever have to do. I didn't know if I could survive. But I was going to try.

For him.
