"And the top performing student this week is," Mr Du Pont paused, "Claudette Rousseau."

An applause filled the room. I had been the top performing recruit for all my training classes for the past month. I had finally won over the trust and respect of my peers and training officers.

"Merci recrues. Disperser," he spoke and everyone scattered.

"Um Ms Rousseau," Mr Du Pont called after me and I stopped in my tracks, then rotating towards him.

"Oui?" I responded coyly.

"I have something I must discuss with you," he brought his voice down to a whisper, "the Embassy and government have decided to make a proposition for you."

"Oh?" I cooed inquisitively, "what is it?"

"It is apparent that you are progressing at an accelerated rate and we have noticed you have potential to be a magnifique agent for the country. So, with your allowance, we are assigning you to first mission," he explained.

"But I'm not finished with training," I interrupted.

"Oui. We are not assigning you as a full agent but rather as a shadow. It's something we've never done before but we just felt like you deserved more than you are being given since it seems like you are exceeding your expectations exponentially here," he nodded.

"Finally a development," I thought.

"Well then I accept. Merci monsieur," I nodded.

"Come by the office at the end of today and receive your files. We will be launching you at the end of this week," he ordered.

"Oui monsieur," I agreed.

"Oh and mademosielle," he started.

"Monsieur?" I questioned.

"Keep this from the other recruits. We don't want them thinking we have favourites. As time goes by, I'll implement this as an example for underperforming recruits to improve," he dictated.

"My lips are sealed," I nodded, "can I at least know what mission I'm being assigned to?"

"Maison Blanche vers le bas," he spoke and left.
