| Chapter Eight |"𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒚, 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒓𝒚. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍."
"What do you want, Damon?" I ask, tiredly rubbing my eyes as I lift off my bed. I felt the shock going through my spine the moment he stepped through my window. I wonder what time it is? I can feel the pull of the moon still strongly, so it's probably around midnight.
"I know I said I wanted you to stay out of harm's way or whatever but that doesn't mean completely ditch stuff," Damon states as I hear him walk across my floor.
" I still have my headache, so loud music with loud people was not my scene," I state.
Mystic High had a 50's dance, and Caroline tried hard to convince me to come, but I put my foot down. Then the next day, I really didn't feel like going to school or anywhere for that matter. Elena had called and kept me up on all the supernatural drama. The vampire who we hit that night was tormenting her, but then Stefan and Damon killed him. Stefan agreed to help Damon get Katherine out of the tomb, but he was lying, and he and Elena were going behind Damon's back until he caught on and threatened to change Elena to a vampire unless Stefan gave him the grimoire. Finally, after Elena assured me she was fine, I fell asleep.
"Why are you even here, Damon?" I ask. "If I weren't so tired, I'd break your bones for feeding Elena your blood."
"They betrayed me. I thought I could trust them both. I mean, there was a time I trusted Stefan more than anyone, " He confesses. "I thought Elena was the only person in town I could trust, but I was wrong."
Well that's doesn't hurt my heart a little at all.
"They don't want the tomb vampires out, Damon. Can you blame them?"
" But I want her!" He snaps, referring to Katherine. I sigh.
"If you're going to yell, you can at least pull the sage candle out my top drawer dresser so you won't wake up, Annalise." I hear him open my drawer and then place the candle on the dresser. I light the candle with my magic and wait for the scent to hit me before saying something else to him. "Damon, you're only thinking of one person instead of everything one else in town. How will the town be able to protect themselves?"
"The council knows of vampires they will manage fine," He mutters.
"No, they won't. Stefan, me, and Bonnie's grandmother would have to step in because we are the only ones in this town strong enough to protect them. That's 26 hungry vampires against three people Damon. We will fail, and this town will parish," I state. "Is that what you want? Does this town really need to suffer for one person?" I ask.
