That night

"Hi, mommy." I spoke happily, walking into my mom's house.

"Hey, baby. Where's Giovanni?" She asked and I couldn't contain my smile.

"He went to his friend's to get more of his things so he can pack them into suitcases.." I trailed off and her eyebrows shot up.

"Wait.."

"You guys found a place?" She asked in excitement and I bursted out into a toothy smile, nodding my head yes.

"Yes, after looking all day. The very last place we saw, we fell in love with."

"Both of us, mommy." I expressed to her and she stood to her feet, pulling me in for a hug.

"I'm so happy for you, baby." She communicated to me, hugging me as tight as she could.

And I felt great in this moment, knowing I'd finally accomplished one of my goals. Moving in with the love of my life.

"So when do you move in?" She asked immediately after, making me laugh as she did the same.

"Well, we don't move in until next month. Two days before our anniversary—"

"—but we closed on it today."

"Gi, just said okay after I told him I wanted it and he instantly paid the first three months rent." I explained, happier than ever, realizing I had a really great man.

"Wow."

"He's such a sweetheart to you baby and I'm happy that the two of you finally found something that you equally like."

"Looks like you took mama's advice." She went on saying and I smiled as we both took a seat on the couch.

"Yeah.." I trailed off, even though I knew I was being a pain in the ass earlier but we got through it.

We'd finally found what we were looking for and now our life together could finally begin. I can't say I was t scared though, considering all the other hurdles.

"So what's next? You're saving money and making sure you can make the rent every month?"

"His plus yours if ever needed?" She asked and I nodded, she already knew I wouldn't be slacking.

"Of course." I expressed with knitted eyebrows.

"Gi tried to push the I don't have to pay rent thing on me again today but I told him that's not what I wanted."

"I told him I want to be able to afford everything, I don't want to become dependent on him and then end up broke and alone." I admitted and she smiled proudly, obviously happy with my words.

"You're so smart, just like your mother." She tapped my shoulder.

"Giovanni's an amazing man and I'm happy someone like him is here and in your corner."

"But never allow any man, any person, to disable your drive and hard work."

"You hear?" She asked and I nodded understandingly.

"I hear you, mom." I agreed, looking into her eyes as she spoke seriously.

"And what about the mama? What's going on with that?" She scoffed, rolling her eyes at the thought.

"She got something to say about this too? Do I need to go back up there?" She went on asking all at once and I shook my head frantically.

"No." I admitted, looking down at my hands as I contemplated telling her what had been on my mind since yesterday's craziness.
