"You don't wanna know the things I saw when I was locked up, Kar." Jesse leans back into his seat, taking a sip out of his glass of water, deciding not to drink any more wine as he would be the one driving us home, "The things I heard."

"How was it?" I ask curiously leaning closer to him, resting my arms on the table

He licks his lips as a chuckle slips past them, "Hell. I remember having an issue with every single one of my cellmates except one. We never got into any serious physical altercations or anything I just remember them picking fights with me over the pettiest things. Some of them...recognized me and recognized who my dad was. Mocked me over how I got arrested especially when they found out that I had a rat on my team that fucked me over. Called me a rookie, said I had no business running it in the place of my dad."

"Most of them were way older too. It felt just like high school honestly. People hearing rumors and antagonizing you or making fun of you for it. The plan was to lay low most of the time and that didn't go well...ever. Even when you weren't around I was still fighting over you." My eyebrows shoot up in surprise at this

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means that I had a picture of you in my wallet." he waves his hand dismissively, "Something I took when you weren't looking, had it printed--look the details aren't important." He says coughing awkwardly and I try not to 'aw' at how embarrassed he looked, "I had a small picture of you folded in my wallet when I got arrested. This one officer was looking through my things and found it. Nice lady, her name was Rebecca. Really tiny, maybe around 5'2. Tanned Olive skin complexion. She was sweet. She had absolutely no business working there but everyone loved her. She found your picture and asked about you, I told her who you were we talked for a couple of minutes and she let me keep the picture. I kept it right over my bed. Looked at it before going to sleep it was the last thing I saw." he smiles to himself at the memory before his expression turns grim

"But I had this one cellmate that just kept talking about you, saying things he'd do if he got his hands on you. Show you what it's like to have a real man. Some of the most outlandish bullshit you can say about a woman. That was the first fist fight I got into." He nods his head and licks his lips as if the memories of the fight are running through his head as we speak."I hit him first and then when they broke up the fight, they moved him out of the room and switched him out with someone else. Who became my second cellmate."

"Wow." I say letting out a breath and shaking my head, "You...really really like me." I tease him and he rolls his eyes, "I wasn't even there and you were getting into fights over me."

"Okay, now I regret telling you that because then your ego is going to get bigger."

"As if you don't have a big ego already." I laugh leaning back in my seat

"I do. But we can't both be egotistical assholes there's gotta be a balance." he bites his lip, trying to hide a smile as his lips just curl up into a smirk, sizing me up and down form he sits across from me.
