"I will never love you."
•••
The biggest wed...
"Maurice, can you get me another pin, please?" I yelled out while holding my veil against the top of my head. I looked over my makeup, the faint rosy colour on my cheeks, the beautiful, neutral-coloured eye shadow topped with some rose gold and the perfect winged liner that the make-up artist did looked amazing. I smiled, pressing my lips together to blend in the slight nude mixed with a rosy-brown lipstick.
I took a deep breath and backed away from the mirror then smoothed out my dress. It wasn't anything grand but the way it hugged my body, helped the bra I had on make it look like I had something on my chest to show and had lace on my back that stopped just above the curve leading to my butt concealed that fact.
We were a floor above the actual wedding chapel, getting some last-minute touches done as quickly as possible. My soon-to-be, dear husband is apparently on his way so I had to start rushing.
"Maurice?" I called again, she came rushing in a few seconds later with a pin which I thanked her for then placed on top of my head.
Finally, looking into the full-length mirror with my hands at my sides, I took another deep breath as a sting appeared in my eyes. No, it wasn't with a man I loved, it wasn't even with a man I knew but it was my day and I was going to make the most of it.
During the past two years, my dad groomed me to be the perfect wife. I was at one with the fact that I was being married off. There was no point in fighting it so after a little while, I started preparing myself. He gave me lectures upon lectures on how to be a wife to someone who could possibly harm me, sell me, kill me.
But I knew all the facts now, he taught me how to avoid getting into trouble with Sinn. I wouldn't bug him, get in his way unless he wanted me to, I would obey him, respect him, and make sure to be a perfect wife. Perfect.
"Do that, and the rest of your life will come easy. He'll take care of you, give you pleasure, money, clothes, anything you could imagine. Trust me, he'll be falling at your feet in no time, okay?"
I gulped nervously as I looked out of the window where cars were pulling up, three Ferraris stood out the most, all in the colour of black. Then I turned away, knowing who it was in that car and didn't want to have bad luck at seeing my fiance before the time was right, which was going to be at the ceremony.
"How do I look?" I asked Maurice. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to get a simple dress, everyone was here. People from all over who were involved with the underground, they were all here.
"Gorgeous, honey. You look just like your mother." She sighed, a sad edge to the sound which transferred into my own as I turned back to the mirror and closed my eyes while breathing in through my nose to rid myself of the ticklish pain in my stomach.
When I opened my eyes, a loud gasp left my mouth, "Maurice!"
"Yes, dear?" She hurried over to my side as my eyes stayed stuck to the view outside.
"My mom's bracelet!" I exclaimed, "The-the one with the infinity sign on it, I forgot it at home." Tears almost started flooding down my face when she suddenly started laughing and walked over to her purse.
"It's right here. I knew you'd be too nervous to remember, so I got it for you beforehand." She laughed and came back over to put it on my wrist while I focused on slowing my breathing and blinking back the tears.
"Thank you," I sighed and she winked.
