It was the 1st of September 2020 and both Ashwin and Keerthi were fast asleep. It was around 3 am in the morning when she woke up screaming in pain. Ashwin jolted up and knew it was time. Her water broke and the whole house was next to her bed trying to calm her down.
Ashwin quickly carried her bridal style to the car and the rest followed them in another car. He was whispering soothing words to her but she was in pain and was crying frantically. They reached the hospital in no time and she was taken to the theatre.
Dr Sarah was already there and all were glad to see her. She assured them that everything will be fine and not to worry. Keerthi wanted Ashwin to be by her side during this time and as he was a doctor there was no issue for him too. He too changed into the required protocol and went inside. There Keerthi was shouting in pain. He had to be strong for her, for the baby. He held her hand and she took his hand in a tight grip. Her nails were digging deep into his skin but that was not a problem right now for HIM. He was whispering encouraging words to her and it was time for her final push.
The doctor asked her to push hard and that's it. Keerthi did it. They heard a cry and Sarah confirmed that it was a girl. They were so happy. The couple had tears in their eyes looking at their daughter!!!
Keerthi was exhausted and both were given the child to hold. As soon as Keerthi held her, the baby stopped crying. The baby held one of Ashwin's finger and that moment Keerthi knew that she was going to be a daddy's princess.
Soon the family who were waiting anxiously outside were told to go inside to look at the baby. They were on cloud nine when they saw their DAUGHTER. They knew she will wrap everyone around her tiny finger now. One by one all carried her and saw her cute face. She looked like Keerthi but had Ashwin's eyes and smile! Keerthi soon fell asleep and the baby too was put to sleep in a cot near her mum. Ashwin could not leave them and stayed in the room while others left to go home to rest. They promised to come back tomorrow morning and check on them. Ashwin kissed Keerthi's forehead and went to check on his daughter.
He held her tiny hands in his big ones and admired her. She was so cute and he was sure that he will make her a daddy's little princess soon. He then slept in the corner bed they gave him in her room with happy tears. In the morning he was woken up by his princess's cry. He got so worried but the nurse informed them about feeding. It was the first time and she explained everything clearly to Keerthi who was also wide awake now. Keerthi listened to her attentively but she was nervous. Ashwin was there with her and when she fed the child that feeling could not be put into words. She was now officially a mother. After everything the nurse even helped and taught on how to clean the baby.
The doctor then visited them and checked everything. She informed Ashwin that they can discharge and leave by evening as there are no complications. All the elders went home to welcome the couple and the new family member.
At around 5 pm after finishing all the paper work, Ashwin helped her to the car and the child was put being in the car seat which he got brand new. Already Keerthi started observing the changes in him. But as usual he held her hand when driving and reached the house in few minutes.

They reached home hand in hand and the elders welcomed them with wide arms. When they went inside it was decorated with balloons and candles everywhere by none other than Shreya. The couple settled down and Shreya carried the baby around while the elders admired her. After that Keerthi was given soup and he fed her.
Ashwin then took her to the room to make her sleep for sometime. The elders were with the baby downstairs and the couple had some alone time. He pushed her to the wall and smashed her lips for a kiss.
Ashwin: thank you for everything baby!
Keerthi hugged him and both snuggled to sleep on the bed. It was one of the peaceful naps they had together. She was woken up soon to feed her baby and Keerthi spent time with the little one. Ashwin admired his small family with a wide smile on the face.
