The lives of Ashwin and Keerthi were going as normal for a few months now. They were both exhausted with work but made time for Aarthi. Aarthi is starting to speak. She is trying so hard to copy what we tell and it is so cute. She is also trying to stand up on her own and she enjoys her bathing times in the morning. She loves water and will make a scene when they try to take her to come out of the bathtub. Ashwin was handling many cases now and he is also getting paid more. He is also working on some research along with his work. He gets very exhausted but as soon as he sees his little princess, he is energized to do anything.
Keerthi's job was hectic. She had so many people working under her and she had to oversee everything that was going around her. She was thankful to her parents and his parents who take turns now to look after Aarthi. Many employees at her office were actually surprised to see Keerthi working so hard despite having a child. They admired her so much and looked up to her as an inspiration. Not everyone can handle this workload along with a newborn child. Keerthi was even shocked to see her thriving hard through tough days and she itself does not know how she could do everything.
Aarthi knew how to get what she wants from everyone around her. She was actually a very smart child for her age. Keerthi's parents used to tell everyone how Aarthi behaved like Keerthi when she was small. She was literally a copy of Keerthi. On the other hand, Ashwin too spoilt her so much. He even taught her how to pacify me to get something. All the elders laughed always at the antics shown by the father-daughter duo.
It was a rainy Sunday afternoon and all were at home enjoying Keerthi's hot snacks. It was like being in heaven. The weather and the food were a perfect combination for a wonderful day. Ashwin loved when Keerthi cooks. She was a great cook and made new dishes for him to try. Shreya was back from her university for the weekend. The poor soul has lost weight due to the stress. She had back-to-back exams and assignments and did not eat properly. She got scolded by her dear brother for not taking care of herself. But it was great to have her back and Aarthi was the happiest when she saw Shreya. They played together a lot and Shreya took her to the parks too.
Shreya was playing with the small one on the veranda. Shreya caught some rain droplets in her hand and Aarthi too copied her. Both then splashed water on each other. Ashwin came and saw this. He was shocked.

Ashwin: Shreya what are you doing? She is going to get sick.
Shreya: Omg! sorry bro! we were enjoying the rain.
Ashwin quickly took Aarthi inside and wiped her head. Keerthi then changed her dress. The elders told Ashwin to calm down. It is usual for kids to play in the rain. All settled down and had tea while chatting about random things. Shreya will be leaving by tomorrow and Keerthi decided to cook some things for her to take.
After dinner that day, little Aarthi started sneezing. She was sneezing more often and Keerthi was scared now. She was sure that Aarthi has caught a cold. She somehow managed to put her to bed and Ashwin was also worried. It was around 2 am when Ashwin woke up when he heard Aarthi crying so hard. He ran to her cot and saw that she was burning with fever. He quickly woke up Keerthi and got into the car to take her to the hospital. The elders and Shreya were worried. Keerthi's eyes were brimming with tears seeing Aarthi wailing so much. Ashwin drove so quickly and took her to the emergency ward. To their luck, the best pediatrician, Dr. Akshara Patel was on night duty then. She was taken into ICU as her temperature was rocket high. Ashwin was trying hard to keep everything together. Soon the elders and Shreya reached the hospital and they started consoling Keerthi. Shreya was guilty now. It was because of her that the small one is sick.
Shreya: Bro sorry. I did not mean to do this.
Ashwin could not see his sister crying. He assured me that it was okay and Aarthi will be fine soon. He hugged Shreya and all waited impatiently for any news.
The doctor came and informed them that her temperature was going down and Aarthi was sleeping peacefully now. All sighed in relief. Ashwin then hugged Keerthi and pecked her forehead. Soon Aarthi was taken into a ward and the couple ran to see her. She was sleeping and Ashwin sat there just staring at her for god knows how long.

Keerthi bought a cup of coffee for her and both decided to stay with Arthi whilst the others left to go home. Ashwin as a doctor knew how dangerous it would have been if he had not brought her to the hospital at the correct time. He was happy that she was okay and he knew that he needed to be extra careful with her now.
Dr. Akshara has been working in the hospital for a long time now and had an eye on Ashwin as soon as she met him. She secretly observed him and she was slowly falling in love with him. Ashwin did not know about her one-sided love. But as time went by her love turned her into a stalker. She was so angry when she saw him distributing his wedding invitations to all his colleagues. Akshara wanted to propose to him but it was all in vain. She wanted to marry him too and when she saw Keerthi taking her place, her blood boiled.
Now she was surprised to see him with his child. As soon as Aarthi was shifted to the ward, Akshara wanted to spend time with him alone. She went to the ward and was mad to see Keerthi there with him. She wanted to somehow take away Keerthi from his life. She stood outside near the door and saw him kissing her. Akshara stomped away in anger.
Ashwin and Keerthi stayed with their child and held her tiny hands in them. Both drifted to sleep uncomfortably in the chair. Keerthi was happy to see Aarthi sleeping well.
