CHAPTER 36

He was gone.

He wasn't there with me.

I didn't remember what happened after he ran away. I only remembered that I cried so hard that I fell, and that someone took me before I could get hurt.

I woke up in my bed in the dormitory. I wasn't alone. Hermione was looking at me, she was sad and worried, but I didn't know why.

She explained me everything that happened the night before.

Dumbledore was dead, he had been killed by the death eaters with Draco. What if it was Draco the one who had killed Dumbledore? I remembered that night he kept saying he was sorry, but for what? he was a death eater like the other, he managed to let the others into the castle. Did those weird cabinets he was working with do that?

I didn't say anything to Hermione about Draco and about what I feared.

When Hermione finished explaining everything, she said that Harry wanted to meet us and Ron.

I followed Hermione without talking. I was shocked, and even if I wanted to words didn't came out of my mouth.

As we arrived, I noticed we were at the astronomy tower. I didn't want to stay there. Memories were too many, and they came back to me, one by one. They were all about him, and I didn't want to think about him. Not in that moment.

"do you think he would have done it? Draco?" Hermione asked. I looked up, they knew he was involved, and probably they knew he was a death eater.

"no, he was lowering his wand. In the end it was Snape" Harry said, and a breath of relief came out from my mouth

"before that moment, Dumbledore told me about these Horcruxes. Apparently, Voldemort had divided his soul in six pieces. If we found and destroyed them, we will be able to kill him. We went to a place to find one of them. But it is a fake" he said looking to a locket.

Hermione opened it, there was a piece of paper inside

"to the dark lord, I know I will be dead long before you'll read this, but I wanted you to know that was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy as soon as I can. R.A.B" she read

"R.A.B.?" I asked

"I don't know, but whoever they are, they have the real Horcrux" he said looking at the landscape in front of us.

"I'm not coming back the next year. I've got to finish whatever Dumbledore started. I don't know where that will lead me, but I will let you know where I am when I can" he said looking at me

"We are going with you. You can't do this alone. You need us, and you know that" I said

"We will go with him Hannah, Ron and I" Hermione said

I looked at them in a confused way "And what about me?" I asked

"You'll stay here, we need someone we can trust in the castle. We don't know what is going to happen, but I bet Snape will become the new Headmaster, and we need someone we know inside the castle" Harry said

"But there are already Ginny, Neville and Dean. I can be helpful for you" I insisted. I didn't want to be separated from them

"We need you here" I sighed.

I didn't insist any more. I knew they decided, and I knew it was for the best. I nodded.

We didn't talk that much for the rest of the day. Harry stayed on his own.
