Almost all of The Harbingers dashed towards Dottore, trying to be any kind of help. They tried to wake Dottore up, but he seemed to be out cold.
The Sixth Fatui Harbinger scoffed, as he turned on his heel and left the room, not looking back.
Meanwhile, you stood frozen next to the Tsaritsa. It felt like the air temperature around you has dropped down and it was freezing cold.
You felt Tsaritsa's warm hand as she patted your shoulder.
"- Maybe you should go..." - she said in a whisper.
You swallowed a lump in your throat.
Leaving Dottore because of his actions towards you was one thing, but leaving him in trouble when he is sick and not feeling well is another. No, you couldn't just leave him like this.

You sighed and made your way towards The unconscious Harbinger, that was being held by Tartaglia.

Other Harbingers made some space for you, as you observed the scientist. You moved your hand to remove his mask, but then you realized that it might be not the best thing to do. Dottore never removed his mask. You hesitated.
"- ... We should get him to his room. He will be fine, he is just... exhausted." - you spoke sternly.

Tartaglia helped you to get the unconscious Harbinger to his room. His bedroom was a separate room in the laboratory. At the thought of it, you swallowed a lump in your throat. You didn't think that you'd step a foot in the laboratory ever again. But here you are.
As you and Tartaglia approached the laboratory door, you opened it without much hesitation.
What you saw was heart-wrecking. The whole room was a mess, as papers were covering all of the floors. The chair, which was usually standing next to The Harbingers desk, was now laying on the ground.
You wanted to observe the laboratory a little bit more, but it was not the best time for it, as Dottore needed to rest right now.

As you and Tartaglia entered Dottore's room and laid him on his bed, you went out to grab some water and medication for The Harbinger.
When you returned with the stuff, Dottore was still unconscious. You suspected that he was in a deep slumber, as his breathing was deep and steady.
Childe left shortly after. All though you had to convince him for more than 5 minutes that you can handle being alone with Dottore.
But to be honest, you were not sure of what you were going to do when the Harbinger wakes up. It made your heart race.

God, why was everything so complicated?
You watched the man sleep for a few more minutes, but then you left his bedroom, returning to the laboratory. You left his bedroom door open, so you could hear if he wakes up or calls out for you.
You made your way through the laboratory, picking up various papers from the ground and settling them on nearby tables and bookshelves. This place was a mess.

With a sting in your heart, you approached Dottore's table. It was messier than usual. You noticed the blue notebook cover, but that was it. There were no pages in the notebook, as they were all ripped out. Upon seeing that, you felt another pang in your chest.

As you raised your eyes, your own table caught your interest.
Your desk was the same as you left it, except...
There was an envelope. The cover was mint color, with a red stamp in the middle. At the bottom right corner, quite messily written words made your eyes turn glossy.

"- To my one and only, Y/N."

You exhaled.
You really didn't have any emotional strength to do this right now. First of all, after everything he has done, why should you trust him? This might be one more of his experiments.
But...
... Maybe he did feel bad?

Suddenly, you heard a cough come from the bedroom. Your breath hitched.
Slowly, you made your way to the doors of the room where The Harbinger was resting.

And there he was, sitting in his bed, a glass of water in hand.
Upon seeing you, The Harbinger almost dropped the glass.
You wanted to turn away and just disappear again, but that would be straight-up childish.
If he really wanted to fix everything... Both of you needed to talk it out.
You took a deep breath.
"- How are you feeling?" - you asked, approaching his bed.
The man still seemed to be shocked. Maybe he just couldn't believe that it was you, the real you, standing next to him.
He dropped his eyes as he stared into the now empty glass in his hand.
"- ...My head hurts..." - he murmured.
You nodded, as you extended your hand to take the glass from the man.
Dottore handed you the glass, as he was doing his best to avoid eye contact.
You turned on your heel and left at a fast pace, to get some more water.

You didn't know how to feel about The Harbinger's eye contact. On one hand, you were happy, because you wouldn't know how to act. But on the other hand, you felt... sad. As if he didn't want to even look at you...

When you returned, you found The Harbinger in the same position. Now, he was staring at his hands. You pushed the glass of water into his right hand as you gave him the pill from the headache into his left hand.
"- Drink this and try to get some sleep." - you said sternly.
You felt bad for acting like this, but your emotions were overflowing and this was the only way to keep them intact.
You turned to leave and let The Harbinger rest, but you were stopped.

"- Please, don't go. Not yet..." - the man pleaded quietly as he looked up to you with desperation in his eyes.

You felt your chest tighten once again, as you looked straight into Dottore's eyes.
You wanted to figure things out, you really did, but The Harbinger was not in the best state right now. It's better to prioritize his health first.
"- What do you want me to do?" - you asked.
Your question seemed to surprise Dottore. He thought for a second.
"- ...Can you promise me that... When I wake up, you will be here, in my laboratory?" - he asked, somewhat awkwardly.

Seeing Dottore act shy like this was very unusual. You tried to calm down your chuckle, but your tone got a little bit lighter as a small smile appeared on your face.
"- Okay, but only if you drink your medicine and sleep for a few good hours." - you chirped.
The Harbinger seemed mesmerized by your smiling face, as your happiness was contagious. He smiled himself, as he nodded.
"- Alright then, it's a deal."

Upon making sure that Dottore really took his medicine and settling his glass on the table nearby, you let him sleep.
As you left and closed his bedroom door, you once again observed the laboratory.
You approached your desk with a mint color envelope in the middle of it.
Upon taking a few deep breaths, you opened the envelope and pulled out a thin sheet of paper.
The writing was messy, as there were a few almost transparent spots here and there. Were those... dried tears?
Upon sitting at your desk, you started reading the contents of the letter.

"Y/N,

I wish I could tell you everything face to face, but I'm a coward that has no courage to act on it.
It has been two days since you left my laboratory running. Usually, in two days I can construct fifteen robots, but during those two days, I did something different. I tried to construct a machine that could repair and fix hearts.
But, for the second time in my life, I failed miserably. The first time being when I decided to use you for my own good.
I can not begin to explain to you how horribly and sorry I felt after you left. I took you for granted and I feel miserable for doing it. If I could return back in time, I would change everything.
I did think about constructing a time machine, but I can't do anything right without having my assistant, friend, and the only person I've ever truly loved - right by my side.
It's unbelievable how you are all three of those things. Therefore, I can't imagine myself being happy without you. Do you remember when you asked me if I was truly happy with what I have right now?
I think I finally can answer you.
I was the happiest when I was with you.
I understand if you won't be able to find the courage in your heart to forgive me, as I respect your decision. In that case, I'd like to thank you for the best two weeks of my life.
But if you are willing to give this cruel scientist another chance, then I promise to make things right this time.

With all my love,
Dottore."

At the end of the letter, you noticed how more tear stains happened to appear on the paper. Except they were all fresh ones.
Those were your tears. You were crying.
But those were happy tears.

Maybe, just maybe...
You and Dottore can work this out.
