*thomas pov*
I watch her fall to the floor and my heart shatters. What have we done? I thought we broke her with the needle but...this is beyond fixable. She's shattered.

Anger fills me. I walk up behind eric and punch him straight in the jaw,

"What the hell?!" Eric yells grabbing his jaw

"What now eric what! We broke the faction system and Carter!" I say with Andrew holding me back.

"Who cares about Carter..she's no real use to us anymore." Eric says coldly

My hands turn into fists and i lunge at eric punching him in the nose. Harry comes over and hold me back aswell.

"Don't you dare say that about her! You killed the people she loved in hopes she'd come running to you. But guess what eric, she-"

"You guys we have a visitor.." Andrew says looking at the door. It's four

"Where's Carter?!" He yells with his gun up, then he looks to the floor to see Carter in a pool of the blood of her loved ones. "What did you do to her?!" He yells walking closer and we all put our hands up

"She's under a sim." Eric says

"How low can the leaders go? Break the system, kill the leaders, rape one of the only girls that can tolerate you call!"

"We didn't-" Eric starts

"Shut the fuck up!" Four yells,

Then suddenly. All goes dark. What happened? Was I shot? Am I dying? I can't hear anything..or feel anything.

"I'm really sorry you know.." I start, "I embarass you, I put you in difficult situations, and I stood there, stood there..and watched you suffer as the people who truly loved you and you loved them just as much, get taken from you forever..." I start to cry and I sit against the wall. "Some leader I am, I aided in destroying the faction system. What do I do now Carter? I wish you could just wake up right now, and come to me. Like you love me. Oh how I wish you loved me. Come to me and hug me and tell me I can do it and things will be alright soon, but I know that all of these things are wrong. You hate me, I can't do this, and things will never be alright." I wipe up my tears and stand up, "but a man can hope right? I can hope that one day, we can forget factions, have a life outside of the city, and being able to be in eachithers arms, and maybe one day have a family. I can dream and hope, but this little voice in the back of my mind is telling me that, my dream will never happen because your heart may lie with another man, perhaps one day when you're awake, I can tell you how I really feel about you. I hope the medicine is giving you beautiful dreams princess." I say then I leave

*carters pov*

I wake up and I'm in a bed, in a white room. It smells of disinfectant and sanitizer. This place is unlike anything in dauntless or erudite.

"Hello?" I say sitting up. To my left I see andrew sleeping and to my right I see thomas, harry, Eric and four sleeping. Four stirs and I close my mouth hoping I didn't wake him. His eyes shoot open and he jumps up onto erics bed, I don't think he saw me.

"You son of a bitch you killed Carter!" Four yells slapping eric

"Four-" I say above a whisper

"I loved her you bastard!" He yells again ignoring me

"Four-" I say a little bit louder but he still doesn't hear me

"Why did you have to take her away from me?! She's the only one that I truly cared about!" He yells

"TOBIAS" I yell and he turns around. His jaw drops.

"Carter!" I gasps bringig me into a hug, I can feel him crying. I stroke his hair and comfort him

"Shh I'm okay we're all okay.." I whisper then I see eric.

"Toby where are we?" I ask looking him in the eyes

"I don't know..but we're not in the city anymore." He says opening the window. I look outside and I see a silver utopia. The buildings are large and mostly made of glass, it's truly beautiful.

"Good morning." I hear and I turn around to see a young looking man in a lab coat.

"Who are you?" Toby says crossing his arms and puffing up

"My names Jimmy Doerner, you all need to come with me." He says calmly
"Miss, will you please take my arm, it is un right for a lady to be walking around without company to her side," he smiles, I start to walk towards him but eric catches my arm,

"She can walk with me." Eric says sternly

"You can go fuck off you murderer." I say yanking my arm away and hooking mine with the young man.

He takes us to a conference room with three men about the same age as us at the end of a long table. We sit opposite to them and jimmy leaves.

"So, I guess you're wondering why you're here." The middle one says to us and we all nod.

"You are all an experiment. A failed one as a matter of fact. " he says

"Now that you've ruined it, it's time to end the experiment."
