Collier pursed her lip. Her heart has been acting strange ever since she dreamed of Ashley weeping because Brooklyn had broken up with her. She never knew that this time Ashley was the one heartbroken and not Ashley.
"Look, I'm sorry. I made an assumption right away. I did a background check and can't believe that my asshole of a sister did those horrible things to you." Collier ran her fingers through her hair.
Ashley's eyes widened, "You what? Are you a fuckin stalker?"
Collier threw her hands up, "In my defense, you are my former almost sister-in-law and my current employee."
"You're what? If the Villers Family hears you, they'd file a lawsuit," Ashley huffed.
Collier smirked. She leaned closer to Ashley, so near that she could smell the floral citrus scent from Ashley.
"And what makes you think I'm going to file a lawsuit against myself then?' Collier said in a husky voice. She was even surprised at herself, she had never spoken like this before.
Ashley bit her lip. Collier was so near that she could smell Collier's woody vanilla scent. Her nose kept on sniffing as she inched closer without her noticing.
Collier raised her eyebrow, amused. She slid an arm around Ashley's waist and pulled her closer, "You seem to be addicted to my scent, aren't you?"
Ashley blushed and lightly pushed Collier away. She tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear. Ashley bit her lip. She could feel her heart drumming against her ear. I'm just nervous. She's my boss after all. Yeah, that's it!
Collier's throat became dry as she witnessed Ashley being shy. Collier's eyes dilated. It wasn't an everyday occurrence to witness how cute this little kitten acted.
"Just because your sister is my type, doesn't mean you're also my type," Ashley looked away, her face heating. Why did I even say that?
Collier's lips curved into a smile. Teasing this little kitten seems fun. Although she doesn't know what's really happening, she felt that Ashley might not be the same Ashley who broke her sister's heart many times before.
Ashley, who regained her composure, turned to look at Collier again, "What do you mean filling a lawsuit against yourself? What I said was that the Villers-"
"Nice to meet you Regional Senior Manager Ashley Kay, I am Collier Villers, CEO of Blueskey Corporation that owns Highway Malls," Collier winked.
Ashley felt her face become pale. The person in front of her was her boss, the one who was against her becoming the CEO of Highway Malls. Her eyes opened wide. Brooklyn's a Villers.
"Brooklyn, she-she didn't tell me," Ashley had a pained look.
Ashley and Brooklyn had been dating for many years already, yet Brooklyn hadn't uttered any word to her about being a Villers. Ashley knew Brooklyn as Brooklyn Hams, that's how Brooklyn introduced herself.
"But she introduced herself to me as Brooklyn Hams."
"Mother's maiden name."
Collier sneakily grabbed Ashley's hand gently, "I'm sorry. She hurt you for so long. I'm sorry that she lied to you. Brooklyn didn't want to be part of the Villers family. She wanted a normal life, to be a flight attendant. I owe you for protecting her these past few years."
Ashley felt her head heavy. She sighed. Never mind all of those. Brooklyn and her had gone their separate ways. There's no need to bother Collier.
"No need. She was my girlfriend. Of course, I'd protect her. You don't owe me anything."
Collier chuckled, "How about lunch on me? I know a restaurant, come one."
The elevator opened and Collier strode past her employees hand in hand with a struggling kitten, who seemed to have noticed that Collier had been holding her hand.
"Let go of me. You don't have to hold my hand," Ashley protested.
Collier smirked and said while pretending to be innocent, "What do you mean?"
Collier then said in a loud voice making sure that everyone would hear it, even the driver who would surely report it to her parents, "We're on a date, my love," followed by a wink.
The whole first floor went quiet. The driver almost fainted. What would he say to madam and sir? He sighed. Miss Ashley Kay did seem capable enough. He could only smile at the thought that the little first miss has someone she loves.
Inside the car, Ashley glared at Collier and whispered, "What are you plotting?"
Collier, putting her index finger on her lips, signaled Ashley to not ask any questions, "We'll talk later."
Ashley wanted to fight back, but after remembering that the person in front of her was her boss, she decided to stay quiet instead.
"So, tell me more about my sister and you?" Collier said, her hand creasing Ashley's as if it's a precious glass.
Ashley felt her throat tighten and cleared her throat. She didn't reject Collier's touch. It made her feel safe and warm after Brooklyn left her cold.
The driver almost choked on his own saliva. It made him feel like a single dog. He suddenly misses his wife.
"She's Brooklyn Villers and I didn't know. No wonder she had high standards when it came to the quality of food and clothes I would give her. To be honest, we were happy for the first two year. I have to admit that I couldn't provide her the glamour and money she needed, maybe that's what made her pull away from me and cheat behind my back," Ashley inhaled deeply, remembering the pain. It somehow made Ashley relieved. It wasn't her fault, Brooklyn simply had a higher living standard. Maybe, just maybe they had met at the wrong time. It somehow made her wonder if she had met Brooklyn after she was promoted instead, deep down, Ashley knew it wouldn't really matter.
"I caught her cheating and we reconciled after though. Deep down I had known that her love for me had died down, but I kept on clinging onto the thought that as long as she didn't break up with me it would be alright. After that, everything went downhill, yet I kept on believing that she loved me. I mean she kept on acting like how we used to. But she cheated on me again, and she didn't even apologize. That's when I finally realized that she didn't even care anymore. Long story short, we broke up and I focused all my efforts on my career," Ashley gave her a pained smile.
Collier bit her lip. Her heart ached for a stranger that her sister dated before. Such an asshole. Never thought that this time it would be my sister who's a bitch. Collier sighed. She shouldn't have assumed right away that Ashley was going to be the same as those in the past.
"Well lucky you, you're dating the breadwinner of the Villers' family now," Collier chuckled.
Ashley glared at her. She never even agreed in the first place.
Collier felt her chills on her spine and moved her hand away. She mounted 'I'll explain later' towards Ashley.
Ashley shut her mouth and leaned back, closing her eyes for a quick nap, "Wake me up when we arrive."
Collier nodded like a tamed dog.
The driver was so shocked to see a behaved Collier. He practically cheered for their relationship to last long. The madam and sir would be ecstatic at this news! He can't wait to relay the news from them.
