Chapter 16 - Why are you here?

Ashley was rather nervous. This is her first time being part of a team building activity as the senior regional manager. Now that she's part of the higher management, she's also part of the team building events planner.

Every year their company hosts team building activities per department. Today, the marketing department was having their team building activities for three days and two nights. They're going to the beach to have some fun! Volleyball and the sun are the answers to motivate the employees.

While everyone was meeting up in front of the office building, Ashley walked towards her fellow manager.

"Where's the bus? Why is it taking so long?" Ashley asked.

"I'm not really sure. Hold on, let me contact the company," Joanne said before quickly contacting the bus company. Miss Kay was kind enough to join in for my team building activity. I can't let her down!

Ashley glanced at the other team members, there were whispering and sneaking quick glances at her. Am I that scary? Ashley sighed.

Just then, she felt a pair of hands covering her eyes. Ashley tensed up!

The familiar scent of woody vanilla surrounded her. Ashley sniffed the scent deeply. A familiar silver-haired woman appeared on her mind.

"Collier?" Ashley guessed.

The pair of hands moved away from her eyes, "Hello, babe!" Collier greeted me.

The whole team members and Joanne were shocked. It seemed like the rumors they heard from the different floors were right. Joanne on the other hand was heartbroken. To think I would have a chance with her. Might as well move one then. She decided. It's no use moping around.

"What are you doing here?" Ashley asked. She was surprised that Collier was here to see her off.

"I'm joining in. Would that be alright, Joanne?" Collier turned towards the team manager.

Joanne's eyes widened. OMG! The famous Collier Villers will join our team building! My members are going to love me! She nodded, not even considering the consequences.

Collier's lips formed a smile, "See? Come on. I can sit with you instead on the bus. It'll be less lonely."

"I'm not lonely!" Ashley defended.

Collier looked at the group of five members together with their team manager, happily chatting with each other, "It seems like they're inside their own world."

Ashley sighed, "Well, who wouldn't be afraid? We're their bosses, in a way. Besides, Collier freaking sexy Villers is here. The heir to the wealth of the Villers family is joining their team building activity, who wouldn't be excited and at the same time scared for their lives?" Ashley crossed her arms.

Collier raised her eyebrow, "You think I'm sexy?"

Ashley suddenly blushed, "I-nevermind!"

Ashley's face turned to the left to avoid Collier's eyes.

Collier felt her lips curved upwards. She grabbed Ashley's face.

Ashley, who was surprised that a pair of hands cupped her cheeks, forcing her to face Collier.

"Hey, why so shy babe?" Collier flirted back.

Ashley felt her face getting hotter and removed Collier's hand away from her cheeks, "Shameless!"

Collier only chuckled. You don't know how nervous I am.

Joanne and the other team members were nervous. It's been a few minutes since the bus arrived, but they didn't want to interfere with the flirting of their bosses.

"Joanne, I think you should inform them," one member said.

Joanne mentally sighed. I hope they won't get angry at me.

"Miss Villers and Miss Kay, the bus has arrived already."

Ashley and Collier turned to look at Joanne, rather surprised. They had been inside their own world that they had forgotten about the team building activity that was going to happen today.

Ashley turned to the left and saw that the bus had already arrived and that the team members were waiting for them. Ashley felt her ears turn red from embarrassment.

"Thank you for calling us, Joanne. Feel free to call me Ashley during our team building activities. The main purpose of this is to get to know you all," Ashley flashed her charming smile.

Collier bit her lip. Her heart felt uneasy. Somehow seeing Ashley smiling so sweetly at Joanne, ignited her heart. She didn't like this feeling one bit.

Feeling a little jealous, Collier took the seat beside Ashley.

"You really weren't kidding," Ashley mumbled.

"Of course I wasn't, darling" Collier winked. My face feels hot. I hope she doesn't notice my face blushing.

Collier opened the backpack and grabbed some snacks. She turned towards her back and began passing the bags of potato chips to the team members, "Here have some. Take as many as you can."

"Thank you, Miss Villers!" Everyone thanked one-by-one.

Everyone was quiet. Some were asleep, some were watching movies, and some were playing video games.

Ashley was looking at the glass window. There were different kinds of people going about their lives.

In a few moments, Ashley left her eyelids giving up. Everything became blurry and slowly, her eyelids closed and sleep soon enveloped her.

Collier was busy jamming on her playlist when suddenly her left shoulder felt heavy. She glanced at towards her left side and saw Ashley was leaning on her shoulder, deep asleep.

Collier felt her heartbeat increasing its speed again. Slowly, she leaned forward and gently placed a kiss on Ashley's hair. I love you.

Her eyes widened. Realization suddenly flooded in. Collier's face turned beet red while internally screaming. I'M IN LOVE WITH ASHLEY KAY!!

Collier, who was initially panicking, suddenly calmed down when she saw Ashley snuggling towards her arm. Collier was startled when she felt a pair of arms hugging her left arm.

Seeing Ashley's adorable face while sleeping, Collier leaned towards Ashley while slowly closing her eyes. Maybe I should make her fall for me too.

During the whole ride, Ashley and Collier had fallen asleep. The whole team were squealing internally while one of the members was courageous enough to snap a photo of Ashley and Collie sleeping together like a couple with Ashley lying on Collier's shoulder and Collier sleeping soundly so perfectly beside Ashley.

"My ship is sailing!" James, one of the members squealed.

"SHHH!" Everyone hushed him, causing James to immediately clasped both of his hands on his mouth.
