Chapter 27: Confrontation

For the first time in a few years, Ashley took a leave of absence. She yearned for sleep. Ashley wasn't sure how her relationship would work out given what had happened the previous three days, especially after Brooklyn had bothered her nonstop yesterday.

Ashley sighed and took her coat in hand. She made the decision to go to the club to relax. She didn't want to disturb her friends. She's a fool for going after her ex-girlfriend's sister.

Ashley was aware that she had lost the instant Collier made it apparent that she loved her sister.

Ashley sighed. I just hope you'll choose me even when the probability of it is low.

With an attempt to heal her broken heart, Ashley opened the door to the club. It was noisy; many people were dancing. Ashley glanced towards her right and saw some people either drunk or making out.

Ashley made her way over to the bar area and placed her drink order. What Ashley wants is nothing but a drink to drown her sorrows. She's not the type to hook up with people only to mend a wounded heart.

After a few hours, Ashley's sight became blurry. She was having a terrible headache.

The bartender was very concerned and asked, "Miss, maybe you should ask someone to fetch you. I'm afraid that at this state, you might not arrive home safely."

With the last drop of will, Ashley opened her phone and called someone, "I'm at xxx club, can you fetch me? I'm dizzy."

Ashley closed her eyes and decide to take a nap. Please come, Collier. I miss you.

After a few minutes, Ashley could feel a soft palm tapping her shoulder. Although she's dizzy, she can clearly see who the other person is. Ashley felt irritated, "Get your hands off me, you're not Collier!"

The other party chuckled, "Why, hello beauty. Why don't you follow me home?" the stranger said.

The other party kept trying to touch Ashley, so when the bartender came back, he quickly called the security to kick out the offender.

He turned to Ashley and said, "I'm very sorry for that, Miss. I do hope your partner will arrive."

Ashley sighed. Nevermind. She's not coming. Ashley waved her hand and stood up, attempting to go out of the club.

The worried bartender wanted to follow, but he received an order from a customer. He could only pray that nothing bad would happen to Ashley.

Ashley staggered and finally found a pole to lean on.

"Stupid, Collier. Stupid! I'm never going to fall in love again," Ashley muttered.

Just then a shadow emerged from behind me. The shadow walked towards Ashley slowly and steadily.

Ashley felt someone was following her and looked up. She saw Brooklyn looking worried for her.

Brooklyn grabbed Ashley'sarm and said, "Are you okay? I'll take you home." She tried persuading Ashley.

Ashley couldn't help but tearing up, "So she'd rather you bring me home than her."

Brooklyn stood there dumbfounded. She had never seen Ashley so dejected. Her heart began to ache as if thousands of needles were poking her heart.

"Ashely, do you really not love me anymore?" Brooklyn bit her lip.

Ashley looked at Brooklyn, "The moment you cheated on me, I stopped loving you," she took a deep breath and said, "Brooklyn please, check you phone and you know what I'm talking about."

Ashley removed her hand from Brooklyn's grip, "I used to love you so much, but you cheated on me TWICE, Brooklyn."

Ashley looked at Brooklyn in the eyes, "I just can't love you anymore."

"I-I don't think I'll love anyone anymore after Collier," Ashley's voicewase filled with sadness.

Brooklyn stood there stunned; she didn't know what to do, but deep inside she wanted to catch Ashley's heart again. Before she was able to say anything, Ashley cut her off.

"Can you please leave me alone? I fully know that Collier will choose you over me, so please, can you just leave me alone? I'm heartbroken enough."

Ashley staggered towards the street, trying to cross it to get to her car. Suddenly, a loud beep was heard. Ashley stood still. I don't care anymore.
