"I'll drive you home," Collier offered, still hugging Ashley.
Ashley whipped her tears dry. She should thank Collier instead of crying like a kid. Her heart felt warm when Collier hugged her. Although they had just met a few days prior, Collier had been the sweetest and nicest person she had ever met. Not only did she take time to understand Brooklyn and her past relationship, but she also helped her get rid of a sexual harasser that had been threatening her for a long time.
Ashley gripped Collier's blazer, " Thank you so much."
Ashley let Collier stroke her soft hair. It's the least she could do after Collier helped her. After Ashley realized that they had been hugging for a while now, her cheeks flushed and she pushed Collier away from her gently, "I think I feel fine now."
"Are you really?" Collier asked, her eyebrows furrowed.
Ashley nodded before smiling. That was nice of her. We started off wrong. Ashley raised her palm closer towards Collier, then pinched her cheek, "That was sweet of you."
"What? Will you sleep with me?" Collier blurted out while playing with her hair.
Ashley's smile turned into a frown, "What?" Did she hear it wrong? Does she want to sleep with me?
"I never had a friend over," Collier blushed, feeling embarrassed about what she had revealed to Ashely.
Laughter escaped Ashley's lips, "Sure. My bad, sorry. I thought that -"
"Thought what?" Collier asked innocently.
Ashley's ears flushed, "Nevermind, but sure!"
Collier shrugged. She led Ashley inside her car, offering the shotgun seat to her.
Ashley raised her eyebrow and smirked, "You're driving? I won't die, right?"
"Very funny. Don't worry, I'll take care if you," Collier winked.
Ashley chuckled and teasingly punched Collier's arm. She's such a flirt. Ashley smiled. Having a friend like Collier might not be bad after all.
The whole ride was peaceful. Ashley was jamming and enjoying the playlist of Collier's. Who would have thought that they have the same taste when it comes to music? Ashley closed her eyes as she fully immersed herself while listening to the song.
"Like my playlist?" Collier asked, eyes still on the road.
"You've got great taste, Villers," Ashley admitted, eyes still closed.
"Same to you, Ashley,"
Ashley's eyes opened immediately when she heard what Collier had said. A smile formed on her lips, "Guess we're friends now, Collier."
"It's more like my fake girlfriend, wouldn't you agree?"
Ashley shut her eyes closed again, "Sure. Whatever makes you happy."
Ashley leaned back. Enjoying the whole ride. Collier wasn't as bad as she thought. Plenty of peace when her mouth is shut.
The car came to a stop due to the red light. Ashley heard Collier's deep breaths and wondered what Collier had been thinking.
"When the Board of Directors recommended you to be the CEO of Highway Malls, I apologize for rejecting you in that position. Your qualifications looked lacking. If only I knew that we'd meet eventually, then I wouldn't have been ruthless," Collier looked at Ashley with sincere eyes.
Ashley opened her eyes. She never loathed Collier for doing that. Somehow, she did predict that it was because she was lacking qualifications for that position. Another reason may be because she had been pissed off that Collier didn't provide a reason at that time, but relief enveloped her whole body when she heard the reason from Collier's mouth.
"It's alright. I guessed it after some time," Ashley replied with a smile.
"I-"
The car behind them honked and cut off what Collier was going to say.
"Let's talk later. Eyes on the road, Collier," Ashley chuckled.
After a few minutes, they arrived at some village. Houses far apart from each other. The car passed through a gate before reaching the mansion of the Villers. Ashley exited the car and her mouth was wide from the shock. The mansion was approximately 19,000 square feet and at least 13 feet tall. The lawn was being kept properly. There were shrubs surrounding the lawn. Ashley was quite surprised that they were trimmed properly. There's even a heart-shaped shrub.
"Welcome to my humble home. I wanted you to be more familiar with the main house before you eventually meet my parents," Collier explained as she led Ashley inside.
The inside was much more shocking. Although the mansion had a minimalistic style, there were sparking huge chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and waterfalls by the walls. Ashley swallowed her saliva. I almost forgot she was the richest person in the Country of Pines.
"I don't live here everyday, it's mostly my parents, but they're out this week," Collier explained.
Ashley followed Collier towards the left side of the stairs. She wondered what the second floor looked like.
"I'll give you a tour some day. I wouldn't recommend wandering around by yourself, you might get lost"
"It's huge," Ashley said in awe. Her eyes kept wandering towards the ceiling.
"You look like a lost cat," Collier chuckled, "Stay put."
Collier grabbed the remote control and pressed some buttons. In an instant part of the wall in front of them rotated and revealed a flat-screen television. Collier opened the television and gave the remote to Ashley, "Here, feel free to watch a movie or series you want. I'll just prepare dinner."
Ashley turned her head to look at Collier, "You're cooking? Don't you have a maid?"
"Of course! Dinner tonight will be special. Be grateful, it's not everyday you'll get to eat dinner prepared by the heir of the Villers family," Collier stuck out her tongue, "Now then."
Collier turned towards a lady standing beside her, "She is Auntie Wang, feel free to ask her anything you want. I'll be right back."
Collier walked away towards the kitchen.
