You marched upstairs and into your room, flopping on your bed with a sigh. Why can't they all just give him a chance?

Loki jumped on next to you and helped himself to the plain pancake you dropped on the bed.

Activating your animal translation magic, you're surprised to hear Loki ask a question that almost broke your heart to hear.

"Why would you defend me?"

"Because I don't think it's right that they're mean to you, and don't even give you a chance to show you've changed." He tilted his head to the side, as if he wasn't sure how he felt about that.

"Well...thank you." He dipped his head and you smiled, "Are you going to the party tonight?"

"Well I'll stay here as long as I can, but eventually Natasha will probably come and drag me down to it, like she does every time."

"In that?" Ah there he is. The fashion diva.

You looked away. "Unless you find something that covers my entire body, yes."

"You always wear long sleeves," he noted curiously.

"I prefer to cover up."

"Are you cold?" He seemed to almost be concerned for your health, though that could have just been wishful thinking, but you refused to answer.

"Loki. Please leave it."

He looked at you as if he was trying to read your soul and find the answer he wanted. "Okay."

You let out a breath. Thank you."

"I shall see you tonight," he said, leaving no option to refuse. You chuckled as he jumped off your bed and left your room, the leftover pancake hanging from his mouth.

Instead of wallowing in your room, you made your way into the library to distract your active mind with a book.

You must have fallen asleep because you woke up a few hours later, at around 10:20.

You set your book down and yawned, then stood up and went upstairs to your room. Natasha would probably come for you soon and you should be ready. When you walked into your room, you saw, laid on the bed, a beautiful black dress with gold hemlines. You gasped as you picked it up, the neckline was very high, just around your neck, and the skirt part went down to your ankles and the sleeves went to your wrists.

You immediately wondered if Loki got it for you, as he was the only one you gave your request to, but immediately dismissed away the thought.

He might have been kind to you, but you didn't think he liked you enough for this. It wasn't like he had magic to create this and he had no money to buy it with.

In the end, you decided it didn't matter. It was a beautiful dress that deserved to be worn no matter what.

You weaved a simple braid with your hair and took a look at yourself in the mirror, quickly looking away before you gave into the urge to do a spin like a little girl.

A knock sounded, saving you from debating further, and Natasha walked in. She gave an approving nod at your dress and you smiled.

You bumped into Thor on your way to the party, who took a step back and gave a small bow, lifting your hand to place a kiss on it.

"Lady Y/n, it's nice to see you again. Lovely dress." He gave you a meaningful smile you couldn't decipher before he moved on to what seemed to be the dance floor.

"Why are you serving people?" You asked as Natasha went behind the bar to prepare drinks. "Doesn't Tony have someone to do that?"

"I like it. I get to talk to everyone and sometimes find some juicy news." She shrugged and you laughed.
