You were woken up from your nightmare when the entire building shook, almost making you fall off your bed, "Ah-h-a-h! What the hell is going on?!" You stood up and stumbled to the the door, opening it and walking into the hallway.

"Is there an earthquake or something?" You saw Loki bound out of his room, yowling as if also asking 'What the hell is happening?!'

You started walking down the stairs and Loki yowled again, so you turned back, "What?!"

"You shouldn't go down there," he said, you assumed he did something to let you understand him.

"Why not?"

"It's dangerous."

"I'll stay on the side, invisible," you assured him.

"I'm coming with you," you sighed and agreed, and you made the two of you invisible, and you both creeped downstairs slowly.

When you came downstairs you saw the Avengers fighting what seemed to be...Tony's suits? "What the..."

"Madness dramatic. I'm sorry I know you mean well and you just didn't think it through," There was half a bot walking across the room, speaking, "You want to protect the world but you don't want it to change. How is humanity saved if it's not allowed to...evolve?" The bot continued to drone on, "There's only one path to peace....the Avengers extinction."

Thor threw his hammer at the bot and it fell into the wall, shattering.

"I had strings but now I'm free..." the bot said before it's lights went off, powering down. Well that's going to be part of my nightmares

The Avengers all looked at one another, as if none of them knew what to say.

You felt Loki seething with rage, so you looked down to him and asked, "Why are you so mad?"

"He took my scepter!" Cat-Loki whined.

"I'm sure Tony will get it back, Fury wants that scepter and will kill Tony if he doesn't have it," you assured him.

He mumbled something unintelligible.

You yawned, "I'm gonna go to sleep, we will find out all about it in the morning," you told a white lie. You were going to your room but you know there was no way you were sleeping.

He nodded, "See you tomorrow."

You went upstairs and stayed up all night reading, and doing some research about Jotunheim, learning about 'Frost Giants'. Which made you wonder why Loki didn't look anything like them.

The next day

You woke up, changing into your normal outfit and reapplying makeup, then went downstairs.

"Wow it's a mess down here," you commented, looking at the distraction around the building.

The Avengers were around the table having breakfast, "No kidding," Steve muttered from his spot by the stove, making waffles.

"By the way kid, we have to leave for a few days for a mission," Tony told you.

"Does it have anything to do with last night?" You asked.

"You saw last night?" He asked back.

"Some of it, I saw the robot try to kill you all, then Thor destroy it," you said as you took some waffles, putting them on a plate and pouring lots of syrup on it.

"Yes. His name is Ultron," Tony responded, "I'm not sure how long we'll be gone, hopefully not very long."

"Ok. I'll be fine, and I'll make sure Loki doesn't do anything," you said the last part only to Tony, because he seemed convinced Loki needed a babysitter, "Speaking of Loki, where is he?"

"Don't know, he hasn't come down yet," Natasha answered you.

You frowned, maybe he was still asleep? Although you doubted that, he was probably waiting until the Avengers dwindled out so he could eat in peace without them being mean all the time to him.

Hours later the Avengers had left and you were reading on the couch, when Cat-Loki came down the stairs, which made you look up.

"Oh hey Loki," you put on your cat ears since the Avengers weren't home and you wanted to be able to understand him, "The Avengers are out for a while to chase down Ultron, the robot we saw last night. I have some still hot waffles here if you want," you pointed to the stack of waffles in front of you.

"I...thank you," Loki said and walked over to you. You smiled and put the plate on the couch next to you, and Loki jumped up and started eating it while you read.

A few minutes later when he was done, he asked, "What are you reading?"

You laughed, "I actually have no idea, I found it here, it's actually pretty good," you showed him the front cover of the book.

"Hm," he nodded, then yawned, curling up beside you.

You laughed, "You really like cat naps."

For the next three days you both just hung out together, reading, talking, practicing your powers.

Every time you tried to even close your eyes you saw yourself killing your adoptive parents. So for the last three nights you sat in the living room downstairs, reading, and practicing the magic Loki had shown you that day.

But on the fourth night, Cat-Loki caught you awake on the couch when he came downstairs for whatever it was.

"Y/n?" He asked, you could understand him only because you had had your cat ears up constantly the past few days.

You looked up and thought, Damnit, "Uh hey Loki..."

"Why are you up?"

"Not tired," you lied, you were exhausted, but refused to sleep.

Loki jumped on the couch next to you, "Y/n...don't lie to me."

"I'm not lying," you lied again.

"You cannot lie to the god of lies."

You looked down, "I can't sleep."

"Why not?"

"Nightmares...." You admitted.

He sighed, "How long has this been going on?"

"The last three nights too," you mumbled.

Loki turned around, walked to the edge of the couch, before walking back, as if pacing, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I don't know..." you didn't really know, maybe you didn't want him to think you weak? You had a feeling it wasn't that though.

"You said you're having nightmares?" He asked.

You nodded, "About that night with my adoptive parents."

Loki looked down, then back at you, and asked, "Do you trust me?" It seemed like a very loaded question, and when you thought about it, yes, you did trust him. You weren't sure why, you didn't even know him all that well, but you did.

"I do," you said softly.

"I need contact for this, so put your hand on my head," he said, and you listened, putting a hand on his head over his ears.

His eyes pulsed a brighter green, and you started feeling tired, falling down on your back, "No no..." you mumbled, "I can't sleep..."

"You will sleep dreamlessly darling," you lifted your head and thought you saw Loki in human form, but that was impossible, there's no way he had enough magic for that.

As you were falling asleep you thought you heard the words, 'I love you', but whether they came out of your mouth, or Loki's, or was even imagined, you weren't sure.
