"We need to talk, Johnson."
At the current moment, the look on Calvin's face was a sight to see.
As Noah stood right in front of him, his height surpassing Calvin's slightly, his figure exuded a bare sense of warning - more than it usually did, anyway. Even with his hands placed inside his pockets in a manner that was seemingly casual, the furious look in his eyes was enough to make Calvin slowly back away from my form against the locker and cause his entire body to stiffen.
It was then that I realised that Calvin was, for some reason unknown to me, scared of Noah - to the extent that he didn't even want to be in the latter's vicinity.
Noah seemed to already know that fact.
He let out a low chuckle before getting closer to Calvin intimidatingly, his head cocked slightly to the side. "What? Cat got your tongue?"
His deadly solemn expression, I assumed, did little to appease Calvin's nervousness.
He shook his head to get rid of his thoughts before finally meeting Noah's gaze. His voice seeped out as a stammer. "H-Hey man, didn't see you ther-"
"Shut it."
I saw Noah's jaw clench as he shut Calvin down with a threatening look, for some reason really aggravated. Even without knowing anything about what had transpired between the two of them, the seriousness of the situation was clear to me as I stood in their proximity.
"I believe you owe me something," Noah continued, his voice filled with finality and the sense of menace it always seemed to have a touch of. "I want it back."
"Man, I-I don't know what you're talking about."
"You really want to do this the fucking hard way?" Noah's frustration magnified. From the corner of my eye, I saw his hands making their way out of his pockets, fists clenched, knuckles almost turning white.
"I-I don't know what you-"
Before Calvin could even finish that sentence, Noah's capacity for patience ran thin. He muttered a 'Jesus Christ' under his breath before delivering a brutal punch straight to Calvin's nose, making him stumble backward and land on the ground unstably.
My eyes widened as I stared, dumbstruck, at the now unconscious body lying in the middle of the hallway. My gaze slowly travelled towards Noah. A look of disgust was apparent on his face as he stared down at Calvin's disoriented form without a care in the world.
"Fucking coward." He snarled as he now towered over his body, anger oozing out from him like radiation.
Meanwhile, my frozen body continued to stay in its spot, still recovering from all that had occurred in a matter of mere minutes. Shaking my head, I finally gained my focus after blinking a few times.
"What the hell did you just do?" I vociferated, now staring at Noah with my mouth almost agape, "We could get in a lot of trouble for this."
At my voice, his sharp gaze landed on me, almost bored. But as it settled on my form, something close to rage burned in his eyes like fire before they narrowed in plain and simple hatred. "Who the fuck told you to speak?"
Despite all the natural and rational instincts, I continued, almost yelling. "Why in the world did you just do that?" I huffed, pointing at the unconscious figure lying between the both of us.
The murderous look of his eyes remained fixed on me as he shrugged nonchalantly.
"I went soft."
