"Up next, an original by Miss Y/n Y/l/n. The painting will start off at $20,000. Do I hear $25,000?" A woman up front holds up her paddle. "$25,000. How about $30,000?" A man in the back holds up his paddle. "$30,000. Now $35,000?" A man with a telephone to his ear nods, then raises his hand. The auctioneer nods, pointing at him. "$35,000. Do I hear $40,000?"
The bidding war goes on for sometime, stopping in the hundreds of thousands for the simple painting. Which, to non art lovers, seemed to be a whole lot of money on nothing. But, to fellow art lovers around the world, something that was painted by Y/n, was rare and incredible. The painter rarely lets big auction houses sell her paintings. Only hanging and selling them in her own art exhibit. So, actually getting their hands on something like this, was well worth the high price tag.
After turning the tv off, Y/n texted her friend and let her know the check for the children's hospital will be sent out in a week or two. And though it won't be for the full amount it was sold for - fee's that the auction house put in place - Y/n would add her own money to the check because the kids need it more than her.
Her phone buzzed in her hand, a text from her friend popping up, telling her how grateful she was. She didn't bother replying to the message, instead, heading to Twitter to see what was going on with the bird app. Which, was a whole lot of nothing. Well, besides Taylor releasing All Too Well, the ten minute version and Jake trending because of it. Speaking of Taylor, see needed to ask the singer for another picture of all three of her cats together. The last one just wasn't right.
As she scrolls through her feed, she stops on a reposted tweet of one of the Jenner children - Kendall, Y/n believes. But, unlike the pictures Y/n has seen before, where the smile is posed, this one looks real. Happy. Genuine. The artist can't help but admire how beautiful her smile looks, the woman's bone structure flawless and sharp. Saving the picture, Y/n heads to her painting room and grabs a canvas, setting it up before sketching on it.
The pencil flies over the cloth canvas, needing to be sharpened twice more, before she's finally done. Kendall's beautiful smile stares back at her, and now, to start painting. She mixes different colors to get the correct color she needs, before painting.
It's one of the quickest works she's done, and by the time the day's over, Y/n's hanging the painting up to dry.
The painter already knows she's gonna put it in her exhibit, but won't be selling it, instead, she'll sending it to the model as a gift, hoping she won't think it's creepy.
After it's dried and sealed, she hangs it up, knowing she'll need to post multiple signs that it's not for sell.
When the open house comes, she mingles around, putting newer painting up after ones get sold. Of course, even with the signs up, people still come to her and ask to buy it. One guy even offering over a million for it, but her answer is the same.
By the time the open house is done, she's sold ten paintings and made over a million dollars. Not a bad night, but she's had better. Taking the special painting off the wall, Y/n carefully packages it, wrapping it in old sheets and a older blanket, before slipping it into the box, then slipping the note she wrote inside, and tapes it up.
Fragile is written all over the box, but that doesn't mean it'll actually be handled with care. But, when she gets a message on Twitter that she loves it, and it wasn't creepy, a smile comes to her lips, before a squeak comes from her mouth when she reads the message correctly.
Kendall: actually, can I thank you in person? Would you like to get coffee?
Of course Y/n agrees, but doesn't know that that would be the first date of many down the line. All because someone reposted a picture of Kendall Jenner smiling genuinely.
