You look into the leaving room, watching the scene in front of you.
Charlotte is in her newborn lounger as Jack is sitting on the couch just a over her, reading a book out loud. He stops after every page, flipping it around to show her the pictures. Your heart warms at the site.
Jack has been nothing if not extraordinary since you had Charlotte 9 weeks ago. He's constantly talking to her and begging to hold her. There was one day that you didn't get to hold her at all, Jack and Aaron refusing to give her up when they had her in their arms.
You head back into the kitchen, fixing up dinner for you Jack. Aaron messaged about an hour ago to let you know the team is on the way back. This was his first case since Charlotte was born, and he called you every night letting you know how hard it was for him to be away. His leave ended earlier than yours, but you know soon you'll be joining him back at work, so you're soaking up as much time at home as you can.
You gather both you and Jacks plates, bringing them into the living room and setting them in the coffee table. You both eat your dinner while watching the new marvel movie, it being Jacks turn to pick, before telling him he needs to wash up for bed.
While he runs off to do that, you take your plates to the sink and make a bottle for Charlotte, feeding her, her dinner. Jack comes back out once she's done, asking if you can can read him a chapter from his new book.
You agree, never being able to say no to him, which is how Aaron found you when he got home. Laying next to Jack, one hand cradling through his hair as Charlotte lays on your chest, a book in your other hand, softly reading out loud to the two sleeping children. You knew they were asleep, you just didn't want this moment to end.
When you look up towards the door, Aaron is leaning up against the panel, a soft look in his tired eyes. He moves closer to you, leaning over to kiss Jacks forehead, picking up Charlotte from your chest before making his way out of the room, you following him.
He goes and puts Charlotte in her crib. You had moved her into her room starting last week, her nightly feedings starting to space out as she sleeps longer through the night. You watch as he whispers too her, kissing her head briefly, and then making his way to you.
