i.e. Season 11 Episode 22

TW: typical criminal minds jargon, angst, think that's it. I did have to change this episode, because if you remember correctly, I killed Mr.Scratch off this storyline. This is not beta read so all mistakes are my own.

Life after the BAU is confusing, and weird, and honestly, so refreshing. For the first time in a long time, you actually have a normal sleeping schedule, and normal eating habits, and a normal home life.

It's been almost 5 months since you started your new job, teaching behavioral psychology at the local university, and you didn't think you would love it this much. Your kids are loving it just as much as you, having you around all the time. Jack and Charlie especially, Luke and Brandon are only a year old. But your 4 and 12 year old are thriving on the home front with a better home schedule.

The only one that seems to be struggling with the change is Aaron. He's been pouty, which is not a trait you would have ever considered giving him. Not having you there on cases with him, or at the office when he works late, or even to just look over and see your face, has been, in his words, horrendous. Last week, it was announced that Chief Cruz was taking a job higher up, and the section chief job was going to be open again. Aaron confided in you that he's actually considering taking it this time.

You told him you weren't going to hold your breath, jokingly of course. You don't think Aaron could ever find someone he trusts enough to take his place if he were to leave. He agreed with you on that.

Charlottes cheer for cereal gets you out of your head, looking over your shoulder to your children around the table. Aaron walks into the room, buttoning his shirt up, as you set two bowls down for Charlie and Jack, putting some dry cereal in front of the twins.

You help him with his tie when a knock on the door has you looking over at Jack, "That's JJ bud, will you get it?"

"Okay!" He hurries to open the door, imminently going into a conversation with Henry about the latest comic book they just read. JJ walks in behind them, "Thank you so much for giving us a ride again."

"Absolutely." Aaron tells her, kissing your cheek and walking over to the safe to grab his gun and badge, "Any time."

JJ helps you with the kids at the table, grabbing the lunches you made for Jack, Charlotte, and Henry. One second, you and JJ are joking with the two boys, and the next, your door is getting busted open by MPD.

Your three youngest immediately start screaming and crying, while you grab Jack and Henry, pushing them behind you. Aaron and JJ raise their weapons at the intruders.

"I'm on the job." Aaron informs them.

"Drop your weapon." The MPD demand of him.

Aaron doesn't, "I'm Aaron Hotchner with the FBI."
