With the 70's came colored TV.
Even more hairstyles, and even more clothes.
Women slowly started working their way up, slowly.
Pants were now acceptable for both men and women.
And Lauren loved it.
She hated how taboo it was for her to show up to work in pants.
Now, nobody seemed to really care.
Both Steve and Lauren still held their jobs.
They really loved it.
Lauren had become the head of the language department, and was the school's highest paid teacher.
Steve had become the manager of the library.
And even though things changed, things were very much the same.
In the morning, Lauren made breakfast.
In the evening, Steve made dinner.
In the afternoon, they met at the diner and shared a milkshake.
Steve was also embracing the 70's.
He grew out his hair, but on his head and on his face.
He supported what some would call a 'hippie' beard.
However, his age was getting even more noticeable.
No more was he a spry young-man, but that of a middle-aged man.
His wrinkles continued to grow, but he didn't let that stop him,
Steve was still as strong as he used to be just... just a little bit older.
Lauren was still the same young beauty she'd always been.
No wrinkles.
No grey hair.
No signs of slowly down.
Nothing.
Over the years, she's stayed exactly the same.
One night, they'd gone to a concert.
AC/DC.
And at the concert, someone had confused Steve to be Lauren's father.
It took them both out of it for a moment.
It made them feel a little awkward.
But when the band started playing, all was forgotten.
Until the ride home.
Steve drove through the dark night while Lauren stared out the window.
She thought about the encounter they had.
She thought about how ridiculous it was.
Steve didn't look that old.
But when she turned her head to look at her husband, she saw what the other person had seen.
She saw her husband... but not as young as he used to be.
Sitting next to her in that car, she saw a middle-aged man.
Lauren let out a deep breath and tried to find the courage to speak.
" Steve... you know I can... make you look a little younger... right? I-I can fix it," She said.
Without tearing his eyes away from the road, Steve grabbed his wife's hand and brought it up to his lips. He kissed her knuckles, then rubbed them with his thumb.
" You can't fix time, my love," He said.
As Lauren sat back in her seat, she thought about only one thing.
She can fix time.
She might have been a little rusty after going decades without using her powers, but she believed she can.
She believed that they could stay young... forever.
