~8 years later~

-Destiny-

"Excuse me?" I asked a fellow classmate.

The girl in front of me sighed and turned around, glaring at me. "Yea? What do you want weirdo?"

I looked down, pouting slightly. "Um...well, I need a partner for the project. And uh...I was wondering if you would work with me?"

"Are you serious? I wouldn't be caught working with you! Guys!! Check this out!! The glowing green idiot is being a stupid head!" the girl yelled out, laughing at me.

Everyone looked towards me and glared at me before bursting out laughing. They pointed fingers at me and one even started to spit paper balls in my hair. My lips trembled as I hid behind my backpack.

"Class! That is enough! If you do not want to work with someone, do not laugh at them! Just find someone else." the teacher, Mrs. Willows, said with a stern look.

I leaned back in my desk. I hated second grade. Sure the year was almost over, but I already knew all of this stuff. I'm as smart as Leo, and he's in high school!

"And as for you, Ms. Eclipse, do not cause such a ruckus in my class ever again! You already know that no one likes you! Accept that!" my teacher yelled at me before turning back to the board.

Tears welled in my eyes, but I did not allow them to fall. Why was everyone so mean to me? Mommy and Daddy said that I'm the prettiest girl around. Leo said that same thing. He's my best friend, my only friend. I buried my face in my backpack as the other kids snickered at me.

Soon, the buses pulled up and we're dismissed. I sluggishly got up and slipped my backpack over my shoulders. Waiting until the other kids exited the room, I placed all of my planning papers in my butterfly backpack before slowly walking out of the classroom. I spot Leo at the end of the hallway, throwing his keys up in the air before catching them again. I couldn't help but smile slightly at my best friend. I loved whenever he missed and the keys fell on his face instead.

Shaking my head out of my random thoughts, I walked down the hallway and toward Leo. He didn't seem to notice me because he was in such a trance with his keys. It was funny when he became so focused on one simple little thing.

"Leo." I called to him softly.

His head tilted towards me. He was about to smile, but his keys landed straight on his face. I couldn't help but giggle at him.

He grumbled as he tucked his keys back into his pocket. "What's so funny Emmy?"

I shrugged. "I dunno. Guess it's really funny when your keys hit you."

He smiled and chuckled before picking me up, gently kissing my forehead. I smiled back and rested my head on his shoulder as he carried me to the car. Once he safely seated me in the back seat, he got in the drivers seat and cranked up the car, taking off.

"So, how was school today?" Leo asked me.

I looked down and shrugged my shoulders. "I dunno..."

"You don't know? Everyone knows if they had a good day or not. Surely you know, little one." he spoke softly to him.

Tears formed in my eyes once more. "Well...we got a note saying that we gotta do a project. We gotta have a partner, but no one wants to work with me. They laughed at me."

I felt the car stop. I looked up to see that Leo had stopped the car, and he was getting out of his seat.

"Leo? Wha-"

But I was cut off when my door opened. I was suddenly pulled into a tight hug.

"Emmy...", Leo croaked out, "Emmy please don't let them hurt you. They are worthless, you understand? Worthless...did the teacher get on to them?"

I shook my head. "Sorta, but she told me to not to ask for another partner again because no one likes me."

I heard a low growl come from Leo. Mommy and Daddy always told me that I was extra special to Leo. They always told me that I'm the only person in the entire world that can make Leo's wolfie happy again. I began to pet Leo's head.

"It's okay, Leo's wolfie. I'm not hurt. I'm right here and healthy." I cooed to Leo, knowing from his breathing that his wolf was close to taking over.

He hugged me tighter before pulling back, a large smile forming on his face. I smiled back and rubbed my nose against his, causing him to chuckle softly.

"You always know how to make me happy, Emmy." Leo said softly to me before kissing my forehead.

I poked my finger at me and gave him a stern look. "Now take me back to the house, Leo. I'm craving some chocolate chip cookies right now."

Laughing softly, Leo nodded and shut my door, walking back to the drivers side and opening the door, climbing in. It didn't take long for us to get home. Right when Leo stopped the car, I flew out of the car and ran into the house. It was Leo's house, but he always watched me after school until my parents got off of work. I've been here so many times that I knew where everything was.

"Emmy! Don't eat up everything in the house! I'm hungry too!" Leo whined as he walked into the house, closing the door behind him.

Giggling, I raced towards the kitchen and jumped onto the counters, reaching into the back to pull out Leo's "secret" jar of chocolate chip cookies. Licking my lips, I open the jar and dig it, enjoying the sweet chocolate taste.

"Aww, I don't get any?" Leo asked as he walked in, a pout on his lips.

An overwhelming guilt flooded through me and I handed him a handful of cookies. "Here you go, Leo."

He smiled and took the cookies from me, taking a bite out of one. I continued eating the cookies straight out of the jar.

"So...do you need me to go and have a word with your teacher? No one hurts my Emmy like that." he said, a slight growl coming from him.

I shook my head. "No, Leo. The year is almost over, and I'll be in the third grade. Maybe my teacher won't be so mean to me."

"I'll make sure this time that she isn't." Leo promised, finishing off his last cookie.

Before I could protest, a loud sound startled us. It sounded like glass breaking.

"Leo, what wa--"

However, I was cut off when a rather loud explosion sounded throughout the house. A strange, puffy white smoke engulfed us. Both Leo and I started to cough.

"Leo! I'm scared!" I yelled out, clinging onto my best friend.

He picked me up and ran with me out of the house. "Stay awake Emmy! Please stay awake!"

But I couldn't. I had breathed in so much of that suffocating smoke. I was starting to become dizzy, and black dots swarmed around my eyes.

"Emmy!!" I heard a very distance voice yell out, but I couldn't respond to it.

The only thing that I could see now was darkness, and my body had gone numb. So very numb and lifeless.

A/N Hey guys! I hope that you enjoyed this chapter! Btw, since Destiny is only 8 years old, Leo of course only sees her as a sister or best friend at the moment, but once she matured they will romance around lol.
