"We are what?""Don't act so surprised Valentina" I laughed at her expression
"Bibi, you didn't tell me we'd be driving there" She sighed as she walked over to sit down. We'll be doing enough of that as we drive from home to Ohio.
"I did tell you Val. I literally said you better make sure your phone is charged because it's going to be a long drive"
"I can charge it in the car if I need, but that still doesn't blow by the fact that we're driving there.. DRIVING, that's like a two-day drive"
"Maybe more" I teased and it made her leaned back in the chair, almost falling over
"My point exactly" She waved her hand at me
"At least you can be lazy for a few days" I raised a eyebrow at her as I turned to finish what I was doing
"They're right Val" Leigh said, helping me out a little
"Of course you take their side"
"At least you get the entire backseat to yourself" Leigh pointed with a grin
"Leigh.. you do know I don't sleep that much?" She looked at Leigh with a small smile
"Oh, right" Leigh nodded then turned back to me
"She played three sports, remember?" I nudged Leigh while I chuckled
"Oh yeah. I dont know how you guys caught up with all that" She smiled as she turned to face the other direction
"Did i? Val whispered to me while she pointed
"Maybe" I shrugged, I knew what leigh was feeling but was i gonna tell Valentina? Nope.
"I should apologize" She nodded as she walked pass me to Leigh then hugged her from behind "Sorry Leigh. I didnt mean to say it as if you were dumb and bothering me"
"Its fine, I wasnt that hurt" Leigh laughed as she moved a arm around to Vals back, accepting the hug "Have you called your mom yet?"
"Hey that's my line" I yelled to Leigh "Valentina, Have you called your mom yet?"
Val laughed for a moment as she stepped away from Leigh "I called her three different times this morning plus the two last night"
"Call her one more time" I told her "You know her almost as well as I do"
"Calling her before we get on the road will help calm her nerves, I know" She nodded as she took out her phone and walked into the other room
"I see why people mistake her for your daughter" Leigh laughed as she wrapped her arms around my waist, hugging me from behind and resting her head on my shoulder
"Your gonna ask if we're gonna have that talk aren't you?" I asked while I folded a shirt
"Maybe" Leigh chuckled a little "I j...
"Look we'll talk okay. Just not.. Not now"
"When?" She asked quicker than I expected
"Soon Leigh, I don't wanna rush anything" I turned around to fully face her, putting both my hands on her cheeks "I heard and understood what you said about you being patient and I thank you for it, and I know your waiting on me, I wish I could tell you to just stop but I can't, we confirmed to each other that we most definitely wasted to much time. Five years ago I would've lifted you and carried you home and...
"And what?"
"Now there's so much I've missed. I've been back for months yes, but I'm still finding out stuff. People have changed, even you. Your nightly routine I used to remember step by step exactly. I know that doesn't seem big but it's big to me, what else don't I know about you, do you even like oranges anymore? Would you find it interesting if I took you to that restaurant for your birthday again? Are you still friends with Drew?.. Stuff like that. I wished for answers on my birthday but instead a few months later I disappeared and reappeared after five years with more than I can withstand. I'm trying Leigh, I really am, I want us to be a thing, this universe just doesn't wanna let that happen easily"
