The sun was nearly setting by the time Knuckles arrived; a breeze kicked up dust through the city, making it look like a part of a dystopian movie. There were many children crying, and Tails and Amy did their best to try and cheer them up. (Y/N) left the child-play to them, instead trying to comfort any other people that may be more upset than others. Knuckles made his way over to her first, seeming relieved to have more heroes in the area.

"Hey (Y/N), glad to see you again." The red echidna let out a sigh, a hand on his hip.

"Same to you." The (a/t) smiled, turning away from the elderly couple, "How are things back home?"

"Getting there." He rubbed his head, "More so than this place anyway. Mind filling me in on the details?"

(Y/N) nodded, and the two made their way over to Tails and Amy. The (a/t) recollected her thoughts from the fight, describing the large robot crab and the damage to the city. Once in earshot, Amy also started throwing details in, when the fight started, when she got the message the city was under attack, etc. The red echidna listened intently; his gaze transfixed on the ruined city.

"Well, thankfully we're nearly done rebuilding our home then, right?" Knuckles let out a sigh, holding a large palm to his head, "I'll see how many people from the Resistance can help, and whoever stays back can keep focusing on our city."

The others nodded in agreement, sounded like a pretty good plan. But now they were worried; how are they going to tell half the citizens they were homeless? The large group were getting restless, some having made their way over to the four heroes, a circle forming around them. They said nothing, but their tired, pleading eyes begged for an explanation.

The (a/t) felt her stomach knot, and she swallowed a lump; so many people were going to be devastated, but it was all for a good reason, right? Herself and Amy needed to destroy some buildings to bring the robot down, otherwise more would have been ruined. They hadn't made a bunch of people homeless on purpose but, just the thought of it being their fault made her feel sick.

"I'll handle the crowd." Knuckles said, "It's the main reason I was brought out here, right? Crowd control?"

"You'd handle this far better than I could." Tails said, chuckling lightly, "And Amy would probably hurt someone if they got too violent."

"Hey!" Amy huffed, crossing her arms.

The others chuckled as well, and Knuckles shook his head, "Guess that means I'm the scary one then. Alright, let's get this over with."

The four turned to the crowd as best they could, motioning for them all to come closer. Once they had everyone's attention, Knuckles began his speech. (Y/N) held her hands to her chest as she listened to him talk of the destruction, how countless homes were lost in the battle against the robot, how Amy and (Y/N) did their best to cause minimal damage. The citizens were, understandably, upset, some even angry. Knuckles did his best to point the blame on Eggman, after all it was his robot, and if it hadn't attacked, no homes would have been destroyed.

He then told everyone that he wasn't sure what areas were damaged, but that the Resistance would offer shelter, food and water for those whose homes needed to be rebuilt. He explained that he'd get as many people as he could to come help clean up the mess, and he requests that as many people here help as they could. The sooner they got these homes rebuilt; the sooner people could go back to their normal lives.

This seemed to lift the people's spirits, and (Y/N) couldn't help but smile; even in the darkest moments, everyone was still willing to work together to pull through. And yet, she felt bad for needing to leave them all, but the hunt for her family was still on.
