The Doctor lurched forwards and gripped the console after he had woken up and lost his footing. Amy was lied out on a chair and Rory was sat upright. The only person that wasn't awake, was Vanadey. The redheaded Time Lord was sleeping soundlessly on the floor, curled up into a fetal position.

"This is bad!" The Doctor groaned, still clutching something on the console to try and control the whirring TARDIS. "I don't like this!" In a fit of rage, the Doctor kicked the console, immediately regretting it as pain soared through his lower leg. "ARGH!" He cried, not noticing the sleeping girl near him. "Never use force. You just embarrass yourself." He then glared at the console. "Unless you're cross, in which case - always use force!"

"Shall i run and get the manual?" Amy asked as she rose from the chair quickly, walking after the Doctor who was walking down the stairs in a quick pace.

"I threw it in a supernova." The Doctor admitted, looking up towards Amy. His gaze finally settled on the sleeping girl and he felt his heartbeat stop. Why hadn't she woken up with them?

"You threw the manual in a supernova?" Amy sighed and the Doctor frowned. "Why?"

"Because i disagreed with it!" The Doctor yelled, his temper much worse now he realised Vanadey was asleep and they were not. "Stop talking to me when i'm cross!"

"Okay, but whatever's wrong with the TARDIS, is that what caused us to dream about the future?" Rory questioned, and the Doctor inaudibly scoffed.

"Well, if we were dreaming of the future-"

"Of course we were." Amy said. "We were in Leadworth."

"Upper Leadworth." Rory corrected and Amy shot him a look.

"It can't be that because look!" The Doctor motioned to Vanadey as he began walking up the stairs. "We could still be in Upper Leadworth, dreaming of this. Don't you get it?" The Doctor asked, wishing the youngest Pond was awake so that at least she would - or could - understand better than Amy and Rory.

"No, okay, no, this is real. I'm definitely awake."

"And you thought you were awake when you were all...." the Doctor made a motion to Amy being pregnant. "...elephanty."

"Hey!" She glared, holding a spanner towards the Doctor. "Pregnant."

"And you could be giving birth right now. This could be the dream." The Doctor pointed out. "I told you, trust nothing we see or hear or feel. Look around you. Examine everything. Look for all the details that don't ring true." The Doctor took the spanner from Amy and began walking off. He had to think of a solution and quickly, but he wasn't thinking quick enough.

"Okay, well, we're in a spaceship that's bigger on the inside than the outside." Rory pointed out and Amy nodded in agreement.

"With a bow tie-wearing alien and his girlfriend."

"So maybe, 'what rings true', isn't so simple." Rory finished off for Amy and the Doctor pursed his lips.

"Valid point." The Doctor came to an agreement with the two humans. Just then, all life in the TARDIS - not including Amy, Rory, the Doctor or Vanadey - left. The TARDIS became dark and slightly colder. "It's dead." The Doctor said softly in realisation. "We're in a dead time machine." The birdsong started and the Doctor rushed towards Vanadey. He checked her pulse, and found one. He sighed and moved a strand of hair from her face. "It's going to be okay, love." He whispered, caressing her cheek softly. He decided then and there that, when he next saw her, he'd apologise."Remember - this is real, but, when we wake up in the other place, remember how real this feels." The Doctor warned Amy and Rory, who were huddled together.
