"He's not cheating on me. I never told him not to be with them. I don't even know if I care." You finished your glass of wine, the smoky full flavor going straight to your head. You'd abandoned the thought of eating even one more bite of the chive pancake, shoving it toward Irene who ignored it.
"Then why are you so pale Y/N?" Irene refilled your glass, emptying the bottle while you grabbed your phone.
YN: hey Jagi how's practice going? Love you
You watched the screen, willed him to reply, to say he was at lunch with Tae. If he said that then hanging out with Tae at the Butterfly Cafe meant nothing. If he told you the truth then there was no deception, you'd talk about boundaries later. He wasn't going to lie and say he was at practice, he wouldn't. Your phone stayed silent, no truth no lie.
"Moral gray area." Irene swirled the wine in her glass, the motion made your stomach flip flop. The waiter had returned and she pointed to the empty bottle, requesting another.
"It's not gray, I'm fine with it. He can do what he wants with BTS. I'm not your sister." You squeezed your eyes shut, you felt like you would have a panic attack. He just needed to reply with the truth.
"My sister, yes, let's get back to that. Whether what Jimin is up to right now bothers you or not isn't exactly the point."
The waiter placed the new uncorked bottle on the table, you'd not even sipped from your third glass. The thought surfaced in your head that you didn't think you'd need another. You had to return to work, a fourth glass would definitely push you over the edge. Your head was pounding, your tongue tingling oddly.
"Jjille was jealous of Tae, I think had it been any of the others she wouldn't have reacted the same. Back then Tae wasn't Jin's sub, Jin had a girlfriend. The problem with subs is they aren't happy without a dominant, so Jimin was filling that role."
"Why not Hobi or Yoongi?"
"Yoongi is jealous haven't you heard? Neither of them would take on that commitment." You remembered that from Jin, had your voice slurred through your last sentence?
"And he didn't break it off like he promised her, find someone else for Tae?" Imagining Jimin as a liar and a cheater stung. You remembered when he lied to you about Jjille. Now it made sense why her name shut him down, he had things to hide. You wanted Irene to hurry up and tell you everything, then you'd crawl back to your office and figure this out.
"Jjille called me upset that night, Jimin was late and blamed dance practice but Hobi had text her about dinner later so she knew it was over. I was furious, how could Jimin throw us both away? If all he wanted was Taehyung why involve us at all? I knew he'd been lying to her, I'd seen them all over each other the day before when I was at Taemin's house. I made the mistake of mentioning it to her over the phone."
"You told her Jimin was cheating with Tae? Over the phone?" Irene could be so cruel, you'd never have dropped that on someone who was alone and upset. You gulped down more wine, fuck it you'd just go home after this and mope.
"I hadn't meant to do that, I was still in love with him and maybe subconsciously I wanted to hurt her."
"Did it?"
"Yes. She hadn't even considered he was cheating, she actually thought he was struggling with his weight again. Eating alone and working out for hours after everyone left. She was worried about him and I brought that crashing down. She was too soft for him, believing the best in him every time he showed her his true colors."
You emptied your glass for the third time. If Jimin was reliving patterns, so were you. You were soft for him too, letting him, Kookie, and Tae talk you out of your anger time and again. Tae. His name wiggled through your mind, you squeezed your eyes shut. You'd just finished your third glass, why did you feel so drunk?
