Chapter 21

Even though he came five-minute after the new year, the fact that he still came to see me makes me feel okay. Maybe I was just making myself feel good right after he disposed of my invitation to have dinner with us. But maybe a good thing will come out of this. Umaasa pa rin naman ako. Nagsisimula pa lamang ang araw at taon, things could change in just a click of a finger.

While my hands wrapped around Valerio's waist, I tried looking up watching how the dark sky lightened up by these colorful fireworks. I'm not sure what will happen after his stunt today, but I'm just hoping that after this day, he won't dodge or ignore me anymore.

At least, this is already a start for us.

The road was too familiar for me. As we got closer and closer and breathes the smell of the sea. But if there's any reason adding up to that, I'm not sure what would it be.

The beach is closed and no one's around there in the meantime. Though these neighborhoods and streets we passes by, they were all having a heavy party and I'm thinking if we're just going to stop at one of his friend's housess and we'll take the party there.

Just to feed my curiosity, I asked him, "where are we going, Val?"

"Hmmm?" he hummed, giving me only one-third look.

"I'm asking where are we going? Are we going to one of your friend's pads?"

He shook his head. "No, we're not. Just hang on tight. We'll be there in any second."

"Oh... okay..."

That didn't go well to what I thought it would be. Kung saan nga ba talaga kami pupunta, I just hope hindi niya ako kinidnap—thought I don't think this can rule as kidnapping since I came with him on my own will. But sooner than I thought, we got into the beach's parking lot, and helped me get off his bike.

I don't wanna make it weird kaya mabilis kong binawi ang kamay ko mula sa kanya. When I tried seeing his face, I have a guessed he noticed that I did that. He pressed his lips together and made me follow him to where should we go.

"What are we doing at the beach?" I asked, wondering about the midnight stroll at the beach.

On the north side of the beach—medyo malayo-layo pa sa amin, those people who are residing on the hotels are using sparkling wands and not far from us some fireworks can be seen.

"Just going around," tipid nitong sagot sa akin.

Not that long when we finally reached the tower. He scoop the key from the pocket of his jeans. Before he could even put the key on the door knob, he looked at me and a lopsided grin grew on his face. Nang tuluyan niyang mabuksan ang pinto at mailawan ang loob ng tower, he invited me to get in.

I sat on the usual chair and look around. The windows are shut from the outside, but it would be fine since people would immediately notice kapag nakita nilang may tao pala sa tower. But when we're heading here, wala naman kaming napansing mga tao sa paligid so I guess we're alone at central now.

There's nothing special inside the tower. A few Christmas designs decorated around—well, Valerio ordered me to do those stuff and I think that somehow lightens up the mood inside the premises.
