I long to feel that burn
The numbness
The nothingness
The warmth within the bottle
I miss the key to my creativity
And the insanity that I bring
I know it is no good for me
Especially when people see
The depths of my depravity
But to those who cast the first stone
Have you ever felt alone
Listen to my heart weep and moan
Do you hear that guttural groan
That's my soul weeping
From the memories I am keeping
Soon I will be reaping
My transgressions that are heaping
But please don't worry so
It's just one bottle... no
A mile long chain in tow
Clinking and clattering
Bouncing and shattering
So much resemblance
To the essence that remains
My heart broken but sharp
Hardened but helpless
So much damage
Revealing endless baggage
Please give me another bottle
My heart I will throttle
Soon the nothing will take me
And all you finger waggers will see
That a bottle or two
May clear up my temporary insanity.
