Please don't leave
When I expose the real me
Pressed behind the forced smile
Hiding in the corners of my eyes
Lingering under the breath of my lies
Please don't leave
When I expose the real me
The one trailing my boisterous laughter
Creeping between my uplifting lines
The darkened edge that doesn't shine
Please don't leave
When I expose the real me
The one that I view as a disease
Cancerous or malignant
This darkness is a tumor
Upon the man I could be
Please don't leave
When I expose the real me.
