Part 1: Origins

It was a usual night in the Borderlands. Within the Nakano ward was an office building and a gardening shop, both of which lit up and contrasting the darkening skies.

Two men approached the office, one rather unassuming and the other with notably messy hair.

"Is it just the two of us?" The former asked.

The latter looked around. "Looks like it."

"My Visa expires today, let's hurry." He entered the venue, and the other person followed.

Soon, a handful more people joined them.

At the gardening center, however, a much larger crowd had congregated. Among the crowd, a teenaged boy looked rather displeased.

"What's with the long face?" A peppy, dark-skinned man approached him, genuine concern showing in his eyes.

"Don't worry about him, he just hates crowded venues." Another guy next to him responded, a similar age.

As the sun set below the horizon, dozens of games began all across the Borderlands. But these two places in particular were special. The games were nothing out of the ordinary. The people, on the other hand, were worth following.
