Chapter 25 - Deep conversations

Ever since their date, Avery couldn't help but wonder if James and her would ever have a future together.. Of course she wanted one with him but she felt scared about how things could turn out. What if James doesn't actually like her? What if he found someone better than her? What if she wasn't good enough? What if-

Avery is snapped out of her thoughts by Severus who had seen her worrying. Although he didn't like the fact that she and James may be getting into an official relationship, he just wanted to see her happy. So when he saw her worried expression and that she zoned out, he placed his pale, thin hand on her shoulder.

Looking over she sees one of her best friends sitting there with his hand on her shoulder. He gives her a smile before he starts to speak, "I don't get what you see in the Potter boy, such a filthy little- dimwit."

She notices his slip up but shrugs it off. At least he was getting a tad bit better with the name calling. She thought.

" Well, Sev, he's quite sweet, quite the charmer, too. He's absolutely handsome but that isn't the most important thing about him.. He's caring, Sev, I promise. I see that he really cares about his friends, as well as I do." Avery explains as Severus rolls his eyes.

"Harls, he's a bully.. He bullies me, Avery, don't you care about me?" Severus asks, trying to manipulate her into thinking James is a horrible person.

Avery immediately looks at him and into his eyes with a soft look as she says, "Of course! I do care for you, Sev, but I care for him, too. He really is a great person, you just have to get to know him."

She pulls the boy into the hug. Severus immediately smiles as he hugs back and rubs her back.

They pull away as Severus speaks up, "I'd never get close to that... Potter boy," he pauses before continuing, "he's an idiotic, arrogant, annoying Gryffindor."

Avery immediately looks up at him with a look. She takes a breathe before saying, "Sev, stop.. That's mean and I don't like it when my friends start to talk about my other friends rudely," she looks down at her feet before finishing, "Plus, I really fancy him.. He's a great guy, Sev, I like him so much."

Severus couldn't help but scoff and roll his eyes. It was no secret that he was jealous, he liked Avery, yet she liked his arch nemesis.

Said girl looks at him in confusion, wondering why he had scoffed. She sees that he's irritated and thought nothing of it. Not wanting to make him anymore irritated, she stays quiet.

Soon enough, they hear someone call out for Avery. Looking up, they see Remus standing a few feet away from the two, glaring at the boy next to Avery.

Sure, Remus was a nice guy and didn't get involved with James and Sirius' bullying toward Snape but he was protective over Avery. He knew about how the boy used to call her names and bully her, and suddenly he just likes her. It confused him greatly, but he was still protective of the girl.

Trying to stop herself from sighing of relief, Avery gets up and looks down at Severus and apologizes, exchanging 'bye's, she turns around and walks towards the boy who had called for her.

"I think I'm ready to forgive him."

Was all she heard as soon as she got over to him.

Avery looked up at the boy with a smile before grabbing his wrist and pulling him somewhere.

The boy was beyond confused but just continued to walk with her. As soon as she stopped, he noticed that they were at the Astronomy tower. Looking towards Avery, Remus asks, "What are we doing here, Avery?"

She just smiles before pointing towards a figure that had been leaning over the railing and looking up into the sky. He soon realizes that it was Sirius. His Sirius.

Remus smiles before walking into the room and closing the door behind him.

Avery had known Sirius was there because she'd spot him up there many times. Plus, she remembers when he had once told her that he goes there when he is upset, needs to cool down, or just clear his head. It seemed that he needed to do all three of those things.

Sighing in content, Avery smiles before walking away to find James or anyone. After a while she decides to hang out with the girls. It's been a while since they'd got to spend time together. She would've hung out with Regulus but she knew that some of the stuck up Slytherins wouldn't let that happen.

She's not saying that all Slytherins are stuck, because they all aren't. She knows quite a few that are nice but put on big facades to be the perfect golden child for their parents. She honestly wished that she could help them but she wouldn't want to risk anything to where they could get hurt.

As Avery is walking around, she notices Peter sitting on a bench, munching on some candies. Smiling slightly, she walks over to him and plops down on the bench before grabbing the candy from Peter's hand and eating it.

Looking up, startled, Peter puts his hand to his chest saying, "Merlin! Ave, you scared the living sh- crap out of me,"

Laughing slightly, Avery apologizes, giving him a hug.

Pulling away from the hug, Avery whispers, "Remus is forgiving Sirius... Also you didn't hear this from me."

Widening his eyes, he looks over at his best friend that he considers a sister and asks, "Really? Are things going to go back to normal?"

Nodding her head slightly, "Yes, maybe, but you guys will have to talk it out as a group," She replies. Seeing that Peter was about to open his mouth to speak, Avery beats him to it, "and, no, Peter. I will not be there. This is a group discussion between the four of you."

Pouting slightly, Peter looks at Avery and asks, "Well, what if it doesn't go as planned and we all split?"

"I can assure you that, that won't happen, Pete. I've noticed you all can function together. Yes, you guys will always function right on your own, but you guys keep each other sane. You tend to be more quiet than usual, along with you stress eating, turning into your rat form more than usual.

"Remus studies his books more often and doesn't communicate with others. He eats his chocolate faster than he usually does. I've also noticed that he'll be desperate to distract himself that he'd spend more time in the library than Lily - which that's saying something. Sirius, well we haven't hung around him in a while but I've noticed that he'd watch us from afar, with a regretful look. He stays up in the Astronomy tower while smoking way more than he does when stressed. I'm sure you've noticed this, too, but he skips all of his classes.

"James, well James likes to put his feelings off to the side and ignores those feelings. He'll zone out without knowing, doesn't prank as often and he sure as hell doesn't seem as enthusiastic as he usually is. So, no matter how much you guys are mad at one another, you'll always need each other."

Looking at the girl with his mouth agape, he simply says, "I don't know if I should be scared or not.. You seem to know almost everything about everyone.."

Hey, my loves! Sorry it took forever to make this! I've been trying to catch up on my sleep and once in a while I'd add some parts to this. But yayyy they will makeout- make up soon! Although, I'm pretty sure that Remus and Sirius were making out while Harley and Peter were talking.
