Although I am aware of the other Gods opinions... I will continue to complete my duties... The way I want to complete them.

***

As you gaze from afar, you recognise the other-worldly traveller and his pet strolling across the bridge. His long, golden hair flowed gently in the wind as he continued his search to rescue his sister. Although he does not carry a vision, he manipulated Anemo energy, like Barbados. He is not a God but a mortal. A human. Even you struggle to grasp at his access to this worlds power; it was... unheard of.

You had been watching this traveller for a while now however, you still were unsure of his name. His 'emergency food' - Paimon - floated around him; never leaving his side. A loyal pet indeed. You observe from a length, keeping enough distance to conceal your presence. Your duty was, and always will be, to maintain the correspondence between hatred and love.

If he's this committed to finding his sister... Yet I sense no hatred? This mortal... Is he different from most? Could he-

"Aether look out!" Paimon screeched, interrupting your thoughts. His name is Aether?

The scent of blood engulfs your senses. You look down at the boy and see a large group of Abyss Mages surrounding him. He regains his stance and gasps for air. "Humans are weak! Pay no attention to them. The balance is all you are to worry about."  The reminisce of Baal's words sent a quiver down your spine. Should I help the mortal? Or consider his death, punishment for travelling through dimensions?

Before you knew it you had wandered up to the battle. His eyes were those of gold, his breathing heavy and heart beating anxiously. He swung his sword in an attempt to create distance between himself and the Mages but the movement caused more blood to leak from his icy wound.

"I... Won't give... Up." He struggles to maintain his balance, "I will not let... my life end here."

Life? That's right. Humans are weak. Yet, this boy... will not accept his death. All life ends, but then...

"Am I not alive?" you ask unaware you were speaking aloud.

"HUH!" The insect questioned in obvious confusion of both the question and your presence.

You stand. A deer stunned by light.

"If you don't plan to help go get some!" She yelled again, "You must be heartless to watch someone struggle for their life and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!"

"Humans are weak... Humans are weak."  The words echoed through you, "Humans are weak."  But... If humans are weak... Then the strong should protect them... I should protect them. Protect him. Without a word, you summoned your sword. Humans are weak, but they still amount to something. They still have a purpose. I will protect them. The Cryo Mage summons a group of several Hilichurls and a Mitachurl as the Hydro Mages continue to assault the injured traveller.

Aether had his back to the Mitachurl unaware of its devious attack. You use a small amount of Anemo energy to boost your speed; hoping it wasn't enough for the travellers' talking pet to notice but enough to save him. Clashing your sword against the Mitachurls' giant axe, you lose your stability, as the pain from your curse weakens your arms. Your feet start to slip as the beast adds more and more of its weight on the axe; pushing your back against the travellers'.

The Mitachurl then lifts his axe to take another swing allowing you to think for a few seconds. Humans in this world use 'visions'; borrowed power from the gods. However, they may only obtain one. To fit in with the other humans of this world, you choose to let out a pyro attack, enabling you to best the Mitachurl as well as warn the Cyro Mage.

'"Méy pāpá wõ." The Hydro Mages teleport to support the Cryo. You are their target now...

A/N: you probably hate me for leaving you like that but what can I say? I'm an author. This is still a Xiao x Reader and I will get there. Please leave comments and tell me what you think. If you found any spelling or grammar mistakes you're also welcome to criticise as I don't take 'harsh' comments personally. I hope you enjoyed it and I can't wait to write the next chapter.

Take care!
