Co- parenting Isn't always the easiest of jobs, especially when you only just found out you have a child. How do you adjust so quickly to parenthood whilst also trying to get along with your ex?
Nurse: hey Addison, we have some good news on Aria... Addison: what is it? Nurse: well... looks like she can go home this afternoon Addison: wait really? Nurse: yes, her vitals are all good, her breathing is getting better the only thing is that she will have to have a few more regular check ups Addison: omg thank you.. what time can we leave? Nurse: any time from now, we can move her back to your room or you can carry her Addison: it's okay I will take her Nurse: alright so I will be be just behind you in about 10 minutes to take her security band off (idk ok but I'm pretty sure babies have to have like a bracelet round their leg when they are born so nobody can steal them out the hospital?)
Oh my goodness, I couldn't believe we could actually take Aria home with us today. I finished burping Aria before collecting her pacifier, and blanket from her little incubator but I couldn't leave without saying goodbye to the mom that I had met.
Addison: hey so I don't think I ever caught your name? Lindsey: oh I'm Lindsey... Addison: addison! It was so nice meeting you, we are actually leaving now but I got your number so text me anytime you want to meet up Lindsey: of course, good luck with your two little ones Addison: thanks and you too!!
I walk out of the NICU carrying my fast asleep newborn, I'm so proud that she came this far so quickly and I can't wait for Blake to meet her. I also can't wait to see Bryce's reaction when I walk in as he has no idea. I get back to the hospital room where Bryce was and I opened the door.
Addison: surprise!! Bryce: oh my? Can we actually take her home? Addison: yesss!! Anytime from now after the nurse comes and removes her security bracelet Bryce: that's so good! Im so proud of her! •strokes her head• Addison: here you can have her for a little •passes aria to Bryce• Bryce: aww hi my little warrior! Addison: I can't believe how much she looks like Blake Bryce: I know it's crazy
A few minutes later the nurse comes in and check her over once more and gives us the all clear, she takes her security bracelet and we thank her before she congratulates us and then leaves. Bryce changes Ari into her cute outfit and then gently places her in her car seat. We make sure we have everything before waking out to the car. Bryce straps her in and then I sit in the back next to her.
Bryce POV//
We just pulled up at home, I got Aria's car seat out of the car. We opened the door and we were met with Addison's parents, they tell us Blake's I'm her room playing, I couldn't wait to see her face.
Addison: Babe do you think we should go up and see Blake without Aria first? Bryce: yeah that's a good idea, it will overwhelm her less Sheri: it's ok we will watch Aria for a few minutes
We go upstairs and into Blake's room, as soon as the door cracks open Blake turns around in shock, she ran straight up to Addison and I.
Blake: mama!! •hugs her• Addison: hey bubs •picks her up• Blake: dada!! Bryce: hi princess •kisses her head• Blake: missed you Addison: aww Blakey we missed you so much! Bryce: mommy and daddy have something to tell you Blake: mhm? Addison: mommy had baby sister Blake: sissy? Bryce: yeah you are a big sister Blake Addison: do you want to meet your baby sister? Blake: yesssss •squirms around•
We take her downstairs and into the living room, Aria was still fast asleep in her car seat and Blake immediately noticed her and ran up to her.
Blake: sissy? •taps Aria's head gently• Bryce: yeah, that's very gentle of you Addison: Blakey do you want to know her name? Blake: mhm Addison: her names Aria Blake: Awia?(aria) Bryce: that's right... do you want to hold her? Blake: otay
Addison picks Ari up and sits with Blake on the couch, helping blake hold her sister. Blake was interested in first but after a while got a bit bored.
Blake: no more sissy •pushes her away• Addison: •laughs a bit• okay Blake but don't push her she's only little Blake: hmph
I could already see some jealousy through Blake's facial expressions.
Bryce: Blake say sorry to mommy and sissy Blake: sowwy
We knew this wasn't going to be easy for Blake to except but Blake also knew we didn't tolerate bad behaviour.
Aria: •starts crying• Addison: aww baby it's okay •rubs her back• Bryce: is she hungry babe? Addison: I think so, shall I go upstairs or just stay down here? Bryce: it's up to you Aria: •still crying• Blake: •covers her ears• shhhh I no like it
Addison and I both laugh a little, although we knew we shouldn't it was hard no to since it was quite funny.
Addison: I think I will go upstairs •leaves•
That was my queue to talk to Blake about all the new changes.
Bryce: hey Blakey, listen to daddy as second Blake: •looks up at Bryce• Bryce: I know this is a big change for you but don't be mean to mommy or your sister, okay? Blake: me no like her Bryce: hey don't say that, you will like her it's just because you are not used to her, she can't help that's she has to cry. You were like that once Blake: noooo Bryce: you were •laughs and tickles her• Blake: d-dada n-n-no •giggling•
A few hours past and Blake was in bed, she had been acting a little bit nicer since I spoke to her but we had to understand that this was hard for her as well. We then decided we should announce Aria was born.
