"Niall!" I exclaimed, not being able to hold in my laugh afterwards. I covered my mouth, staring up at him.

"C'mon!" he called, smiling down at my giggles. I sighed happily, placing my hand on a branch and trying to see where he'd stepped to get so high up in the tree behind our apartment we'd been wanting to climb for a while. It had a lot of low hanging branches that you could easily get up into.

I started climbing, seeing he'd made a lot more progress than me. I continued on, however, trying to figure out why the smile that was pressing into my cheeks wouldn't stop. I nearly slipped and fell a few times, but Niall kept moving.

When I couldn't find another way to advance up, I sat down, looking up at him. He looked determined to get even higher, and I laughed once more.

"Having fun?" I called up to him, and he stopped to look down at me. He furrowed his eyebrows, giving me the cutest pout.

"Violette," he sighed. "You've gotta follow me!" I smirked up at him.

"To the ends of the earth, but not up this tree," I chuckled, and he dropped the pout on his face for a small smile.

"Have it your way," he spoke after a few seconds of staring down at me. He kept climbing while I got back down, planting my feet on solid ground and seeing that he'd stopped with no where else to really go.

"I think I'm stuck!" he yelled down to me, and I craned my neck to see him up there.

"Idiot!" I laughed, wondering if he was being serious.

"I might be up here for a while," he sighed loudly, and I rolled my eyes.

"You were brave enough to get up there, you're brave enough to come down, Niall!" I exclaimed, actually surprised at how high he was.

"Oh, no. I could come down at anytime," he shrugged, and I furrowed my eyebrows, squinting as him as the sun shimmered through the leaves. "But I'm not coming down until you come up, so I'm stuck!" I let my shoulders drop, taking a few seconds to laugh at both of us.

"Then, yeah! Make yourself at home in that tree!" I grinned at him, seeing him with a playful look on his face.

"I will then!" he smiled, putting his feet up and laying back and scaring me to death that he would fall. But I didn't say anything, knowing he wanted to win this little 'battle' we were having.

I sat down in the grass, pulling at it for a while and trying not to glance up at him.

"Beautiful day, huh?" I spoke at a comfortable volume.

"What?!" he yelled down, and I looked up at him. "I can't hear you because you're so far away! Why don't you come closer?" I shook my head, laying back in the grass so I could stare up at him without breaking my neck.

"You could, too," I suggested, and he raised his eyebrows, hopping down from the highest branch he'd reached to one a few below.

"Are you coming down?" I wondered, sitting up a little. He chuckled, barely audible.

"I was trying to get more comfortable," he shrugged, and I glared up at him, taking in the warmth and trying to hide my smile. I loved the more playful side of him.

We stayed there for a while. He hummed some songs down to me as I nearly fell asleep there staring up at him. I picked at and played with the grass, whistling along with him if I felt like it.

"Hey, babe," he spoke. It had been nearly half an hour, or what felt like it.

"Yeah," I answered, opening my eyes to see what he'd wanted.

"Are you tired?" he wondered, and I smiled.

"A little, yeah." He played with a stick in his hands as he looked down at me.

"Are you gonna go inside and take a nap?" he asked me.

"Maybe, why? Are you tired, too?" Maybe he was thinking of coming down. He shrugged again, smirking a little.

"If you are going back in, can you bring me out some food?" he asked of me, a bright look in his eyes. I laughed to myself, standing up and brushing myself off.

I took the elevator up to our floor, rolling my eyes even though I couldn't stop smiling. I found a rope and a basket, looking around the kitchen to see what he would want. I threw a water bottle, a sandwich made by yours truly, an apple, and a couple cookies that we'd made the previous afternoon into the basket.

I ran back outside, looking up at him to see him grinning bigger than I'd expected.

"Are we going to have a picnic up here?" he asked me, expecting me to go up there. I threw one end of the rope up to him, smiling.

"Yeah, you are," I spoke smugly, tying the other end of the rope on the handle of the basket. He pulled it to himself, grumbling about me being a stick in the mud.

"Need anything else?" I wondered, kind of wishing he really would've come down because I'd wanted to spend time with him without his feet being off the ground.

"Yeah, will you come up here?" he asked, abit of impatience sneaking into his voice. I raised my eyebrows at him, wondering what he really wanted.

"I could, but I really am tired," I spoke, pretending to yawn. It wasn't a complete lie. "I think I am going to take a nap."

"Don't leave," he called out as I was beginning to walk back. I felt my heart pump for a second, looking back up at him. "You can sleep right here." He pointed to the grass where I'd been before, and I nodded.

"And what if someone kidnaps me while you're up there? There's a lot of perverts in this neighborhood," I teased him, laying back down on that same patch of grass.

"I guess you'll be taken then," he said, and I let my mouth drop even though I knew he was joking. "I'm stuck until you come up here, so I can't move." I stared up at him as he did the same, wondering if I should have gone up.

"Goodnight," I yelled up there, closing my eyes and curling up on the grass. I guess I somehow fell asleep, waking up when I felt something crawling on my arm. I brushed the stupid ant off, seeing the basket on the ground next to the tree, the rope right next to it.

I looked up at him, seeing him staring out at the horizon. The sun was getting close to setting, and I concluded that I'd slept for quite a few hours.

"Niall," I called, and he was startled, making me laugh and helping to wake me up. "Why didn't you wake me up?" I watched him shrug in the dimming light, and I sat up, shaking the grass from my hair.

"Violette?" he spoke, and I heard the change in his voice. I picked up the basket, putting the rope inside. "Are you coming up or not?" he asked seriously, and I furrowed my eyebrows at him.

"I said I'm not--" I shrugged, quickly being interrupted by the sound of him quickly coming down from the branches. I watched him, seeing the determination in his expression. I made room for him to land, wondering why he'd wanted me to come up anyway.

"Catch," he spoke up, and I just barely caught the box he threw right into my hands. I had just opened it and dropped everything else that was in my hands when he hit the ground in front of me. I stared into his eyes, not even the diamond in the box shining brighter than them when he grinned right at me.

"Now you're stuck because I'm not moving until you say yes." I let my hands go numb, not sure if that ring was still in my hands or not.

My heart was pounding a little too loudly and hard for me to move, but just like Niall, I was not stuck for long.
