Seokjin paused near the door, taking a deep breath to compose himself, and smiled brightly. He knocked two times before opening the door, greeting the young girl laying on the bed.

"How's my favourite patient doing today?" Seokjin asked in a cheery voice and the girl gave a soft smile as a response.

"I-i'm feeling b-better, Dr Kim."

Seokjin smiled brightly and nodded his head, although he knew very clearly from the reports in his hand, that the girl must be feeling worse. Much, much worse than yesterday. But no matter how hard or painful things become, Sooyun always says she's good. The girl had made it a habit to say that, so that other people would not be sad.

And Seokjin, of course, plays along too. Who is he to undermine a strength like that?

"I'm very happy to hear that, Sooyun-ie. Let's start shall we?"

When the girl gave a nod in consent, Seokjin instructed the nurse to do the required procedure. It was something which is done every other day and Seokjin's heart ached each time because Sooyun's health seems to be deteriorating at an accelerated pace than Seokjin initially gathered. It didn't look like she had much time to live.

"I've heard that your birthday is next week." Seokjin attempted to divert the girl's attention as he could see the waves of pain in her face. "So what are the plans? 20 is a big number."

Sooyun gave a sad smile. "It is. Assuming I can make it."

Seokjin felt the familiar clench of his heart. "Of course you'll make it. And many more too."

Sooyun just looked out of the window. She knew her condition was bad. And that it's unlikely that she will last for 'many more'. She hoped to make it past 20. It's silly but she just wanted to leave this world as an adult. At least that's one of the milestones she can achieve, she can't hope for anything more than that.

Sooyun looked back at her handsome doctor. Even though his lips were curved into a bright smile, Seokjin couldn't completely hide the sadness in his eyes. Exactly the same as her parents.

"Tell you what! I'm gonna give you a present." Seokjin exclaimed with a light clap. "What would you like to have, Sooyun-ie?"

The girl only gave a sad smile. What can she possibly have? Can't eat anything without it coming back out immediately. Dresses and accessories are useless when she doesn't even have the strength to stand up straight. Any other possession will also be meaningless, she can't take those with her in after life.

"I don't want anything, Dr Kim. I don't have any use for them."

"Oh come on!" Seokjin wiggled his eyebrows playfully. "There must be something that you like to have. Or do."

Sooyun thought for a few seconds. There is one thing that she would like to do. But it's kind of impossible.

"Uhhh…" she started in a unsure voice and Seokjin nodded encouragingly. "There is something I like to do, but it's impossible."

"Tell me what it is, and we'll see if it is impossible or not."

"I kinda wanted to attend a concert of an idol. It has been one of my dreams."

Seokjin watched with an amused smile as a slightly pinkish hue came on to the girl's face. It made such a heartwarming difference than her usually pale complexion. "Ohh.. which idol?"

"Uhhmm… Jeon Jungkook." The blush on Sooyun's face was even more prominent now. "I love his songs. It'll be amazing to listen to them live one time before I die."

"Hmm…"

The rest of the procedure went rather silently and once it was over, Seokjin quietly slipped out of the room. Sooyun had already fallen asleep midway, as her body was too weak to handle things right now.

Seokjin was walking towards his office, when a voice called his name.

"Dr Kim!!"

Seokjin turned around towards that sound to see a handsome man walking towards him with quick steps. He had a file in his hand. Seokjin tried to not react to the man's dimple smile and the only way he could manage that was to look away. He knew it looked rude but he couldn't help it.

"What is it, Namjoon?"

Namjoon's smile flattened a bit at that tone, but he quickly fixed it. "The reports of Mrs Lee just came. I thought maybe you would like to see them."

Seokjin wordlessly extended his hand, asking for the file. Namjoon handed it over, his eager smile dropping little by little.

Seokjin read the reports for a few seconds before taking his pen out and scribbled something there. "I made some changes in her medicine. Start them immediately."

Namjoon raised his hand and gave a little salute. "Yes sir!"

Seokjin quickly turned around and walked away, before Namjoon could notice the smile that was threatening to come on to his face. Once he was back inside his office and the door closed, that's when Seokjin let himself smile a bit.

Kim Namjoon. The cute intern that obviously has the hots for Seokjin. The younger had made no direct advances but his subtlety is very hard to miss. Every doctor, nurse and even some of the regular patients have noticed it.

But no one would dare to make a comment about it at all, specially in Seokjin's presence. Because Kim Seokjin is known as the 'Ice prince', very friendly and sociable in every other instance except for matters of the heart.

Rumours were there from an epic love failure to him being Ace. Seokjin never cared enough to respond to those. Usually people gave up after one or two attempts but Namjoon proved to be different. He had been following Seokjin like a puppy, never getting tired of the elders' cold glares or rude responses.

He had seen the affectionate smiles and care Seokjin gives to his patients to know that the man has the warmest and kindest heart on the planet. Something must have happened in his past for the elder to close off his heart like this and Namjoon was determined to make it bloom again. Make him receive the love that he so willingly gives to others.

It took Seokjin a few minutes to contemplate whether to make the call. He didn't want to be a bother and certainly doesn't like asking for favours but that innocent blush on Sooyun's face kept flashing in his mind.

And to be able to give a little happiness to a person who had received very little of it for a long time, seemed like the right thing to do. He picked up his phone and dialled a number.

"Taehyung-ah.. I need a favour."

Two days later, when Jungkook held a private singing session in Sooyun's room with only Hoseok and a few other staff members present, Seokjin saw his patient truly smiling for the first time in years. Sooyun's eyes were shining with happiness and tears both, while her hands were slightly shocked due to being too excited.

When Jungkook sang his hit song, which talks about the beautiful things and moments in life, Sooyun cried uncontrollably. Even Seokjin had to discreetly wipe a tear, as he watched this scene. Sooyun will not be able to experience any of those moments, but Jungkook managed to paint that life so clearly with his angelic voice, that it felt so real to Sooyun.

When she passed away just after a day from her birthday, Seokjin was glad he got to help fulfill at least one of her dreams.

A/N - so this chapter is about Seokjin, an oncologist, and one of his patients who is very close to the end. She is a fan of Jungkook so Jin called Taehyung and asked for a favour (I didn't tell the relationship between TaeJin yet. 😉😉)

Namjoon is an intern doctor who is clearly in love with Jin but the elder doesn't have anything else other than glares and cold shoulders for him.
