Months ago....

Zoya had noticed the change. Akilina was colder. Colder than usual. She questioned Henrik about it. She could hear the pair whispering at night.

"I haven't noticed anything" he shrugged " she just seems like her self to be honest."

"Жаждущий, Ржавые, двадцать четыре, Сумерки, Пожар, Одиннадцать, Мороз, Дом, Три, Фрахт"

These simple words held so much power. The power to end wars. The power to activate the winter soldier inside of Akilina.

They were invoking that power, alina and Henrik. Neither were particularly well educated when I came to how brains work yet their plan was sound.

"Жаждущий, Ржавые, двадцать четыре, Сумерки, Пожар, Одиннадцать, Мороз, Дом, Три, Фрахт"

Henrik says the words. Akilina becomes the winter soldier.

Over and over and over again.

Akilinas time activated became shorter, her brain becoming used to snapping herself in and out of he winter soldier mode. She was becoming powerfully in control.

Akilina was always limited. Limited to the small minds of hydra personnel. But they were losing grip on the shackles that held her, and they didn't even know it. Soon she'd know her abilities, her limitations. This was a chance to finally find out something about herself that nobody else would know.

"How are you feeling?"

"Brain fucked."

Henrik couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh that must feel wonderful."

"Oh yeah, fantastic."

"It's working."

Akilina stayed quiet.

"hey, sunshine, you still alive or?"

"I know it's working. My head feels, different. I feel different."

"That was to be expected."

"I don't-i don't feel like a person?"

"You wouldn't. I'm guessing that's somewhat normal for you."

Akilina stayed quiet. It's true. She never really felt human. What does it even mean to feel human?

She remembers being told, its making mistakes that makes you human. But for her mistakes were the difference between life and death. There were no room for mistakes.

No room for human.

No place in the world for her.
