Chapter 2: Hard Fish Life.

As the realization hit me that this is what the god was laughing at regarding my choice, I couldn't help but feel like I was cheated.

I could already imagine that glowing yellow figure laughing his ass off at my misfortune.

(Bloody hell, just you wait, you shitty ass god! You think I can't survive as a goldfish in the ocean? Jokes on you, I've beaten Subnautica as worse! We'll see who's laughing in the end!) I screamed in my heart for a long time before eventually calming down.

(Ok, now what to do first? As odd of a choice as it may sound, I should probably find some land first.) I thought.

My goal was simple. I remembered going and feeding fish near some bridges where I used to live.

If I could make it to a similar area, I could have a steady supply of food and not have to worry about much else, either.

Although it was easier said than done, as I looked around me and saw nothing but the endless stretch of blue.

That's when I remembered something else.

(Didn't that shitty god say something about a video game mechanic or whatever? As well as evolution? Hm...) I thought as I began to think up ways to summon my status screen.

I wasn't a very big fan of those types of games and stories, but that doesn't mean I didn't read them in my spare time.

I tried various methods and eventually succeeded.

(Aha, finally!) I shouted in my mind.

As I looked at my stats, I couldn't help going from excited curious, to blind fury in an instant.

Stats -Stage: 1.Level: 1.Attack: 3.Defense: 5.Agility: 10.Stamina: 5.HP: 10.MP: 0.

Skills -Stealth, level: 1.Fin Slap, level: 3.

Can you finally understand just much I've been cheated!?

I'm the weakest creature alive right now, and they expect me to what? Get stronger?

How the hell am I supposed to do that? The ocean is a huge place full of unknowns!

Although, I was getting kinda curious as to what was truly at the bottom...

No, I'm getting off topic.

After calming myself down for a few minutes, I noticed a couple of other things.

There was apparently a couple other tabs on the screen as well.

(So it's not just a stats screen?) I wondered to myself.

I pressed on the tab that had a black silhouette on it, and saw a giant chart full of different black silhouettes as well as a familiar face at the very bottom.

This was actually, an evolution chart.

From what I could see, the evolutionary paths I could take were seemingly unlimited, over half the creatures I had never seen or heard of before, they looked completely alien to me.

As for the very top, I saw even more bizarre options.

I quickly scanned the chart for a few minutes before finally finding what I was looking for.

(Leviathan. Stage: 3. Requirements: unlock title Carnivore of the Sea, eat 1 Murderous Whale meat.) I thought.

I quickly went back to my stats tab to check my titles, and couldn't help but spew curses for another ten minutes.

Titles: Unlucky, Reincarnator, Strongest (pfft) Goldfish, Fool.

That third title was the one that pissed me off the most.

Anyways, as I calmed down I checked what evolutionary paths I could take in order to reach my goal.

As well as see if I could find out information regarding that Carnivore of the Sea title.

In all likelihood I probably just have to eat and all meat diet.

Like that'll be easy.

I haven't even run into any other sea creature yet, let alone one I could kill and eat the flesh of.

Besides, I don't think Goldfish should really be eating meat, unless there's something deadly wrong with them.

Well, anyways, I better start heading in one direction while I figure out how I'm going to find some food in this place.

After swimming for half a day, I finally found a nice spot to rest.

A nice sea anemone, which I definitely pronounced correctly, shut up.

I don't think Goldfish actually use these as homes, but I think it should work.

At least, that was my thought until I instantly got stung by it.

(Ow! Fine, I'll just sleep in a cave nearby) I thought before finding the nearest small cave and going to rest.
