Jasey Foster

February 13.

"I am so jealous of you right now, J, you have no fucking idea."

"Why?" I ask, turning around and seeing Paige sitting on her bed with her legs crossed.

"Because you're skipping class to go see Niall!" she emphasizes.

Right.

That's what is happening today.

"It's one day of classes," I remind her. "Not only that, but I haven't missed any at all. I'm very punctual. I'm just making an exception today."

"Yeah, I get that, but if I could get out of my philosophy class, I so would," she groans. "Can I come with you?"

I pick my bag up from the floor. "Don't do this. Don't try to convince me."

Paige jumps up from her bed, hurrying to my side. "Don't leave me."

"It's one day! You will survive this distance, I promise you."

She's being extra dramatic right now, trying to get a laugh out of me. She presses the back of her hand to her forehead and says, "I'm afraid that my heart will not be able to make it through this. When will I see you again, my love?"

I play along with her, sighing as I walk towards the door of our shared dorm room. "Only time will tell."

"Take me with you," she asks one last time. "You won't even know I'm there. I'll be on my best behavior, I promise."

I shake my head at her. "I'm going to walk out of that door before you can hold me back here any longer. I can't miss my train."

"Fine," she gives up. "Be safe."

"Always. I'll see you tomorrow."

I'm skipping classes today because it's a very special occasion.

I'm going to New York City to see the band, following them along on their day as they take care of some promo for their newest single, Temporary Fix, that came today.

I also get to see my boyfriend, which is the most important thing about today. It's been a little over a month.

My excitement only grows once I'm sitting in my Uber, then standing outside of the train station that will serve as my mode of transportation to arrive in the city, the same way as when Niall and I went together for New Years.

I dig my phone out of the pocket of my heavy jacket, with Niall's leather jacket somewhere underneath the layers. With the time to spare, I decide on calling him, although I don't count on him being awake yet considering how early it is and how unlikely he is to wake himself up at this hour.

When I'm about to hang up the call after a few rings to keep myself from waking him up, he picks up on the other end. I feel sort of guilty, assuming that I had woken him up, until he answers in a cheerful tone that signifies that he was wide awake.

"J, are you on the train yet?" he asks.

"Almost," I answer, surprised to hear the enthusiasm in his voice that I expected to get lost in his exhaustion that somehow hasn't taken over him. "I have a little bit of time before I board. Are you still at your hotel?"

"Yeah, ran out for some breakfast with the guys and came right back," he says. "What time do you think you will be here?"

I look at the digital clock next to the screen displaying the numerous trains departing the station soon. It's eight in the morning now.
