Irene rushed to Stephany's house. She's driving her car while trying her best not to cry but she didn't succeed. In the middle of driving, a bucket of tears came out of her own beautiful brown eyes.
"I know being a strict mother is not easy but i didn't expect that this would be so hard for me" She said while driving, faster and faster.
She's trying her best to stay strong for her daughter but she knew that this time would come, that her husband will be joining her daughter. Dalawa na silang kailangan niyang pagmatigasan.
A few minutes later, meron isang motorcycle ang patuloy na bumubusina sa likuran ng kotse niya. Tinignan niya ito at napagtanto na police na pala ang sumusunod sa kanya. "Argh!" She said.
She stopped the car sa isang side at dahan dahan niyang binaba ang bintana ng kanyang kotse. "Good day ma'am" the police officer greeted her first "Hello po, ano pong sa atin?" Ani Irene na may halong kaunting kaba.
"Ma'am lumagpas po kasi kayo sa limit ng speed." Police said bago niya hubarin ang kanyang cap. "Okay, I'm sorry. I won't do it again, sir" Irene said, tumango naman ang police at binigyan siya ng warning. Muling nagpatuloy si Irene sa kanyang pag dadrive hanggang sa makarating siya sa bahay nila Stephany.
She texted Stephany "Hey, I'm here sa tapat ng gate niyo. Are you home?" She said in the text message. Stephany replied quickly "Yes tita, I'm here. Wait a second lalabas na po ako" she replied with a smiling face at the end of the message.
Stephany then went outside, quickly, she opened the gate and she welcomed Irene with a tight hug. Irene smiled as she hugged her back, she felt so much happiness with the warm hug that Stephany gave.
They both went inside the house, it was surrounded with beautiful paintings. It's not that big because Stephany is living on her own since she doesn't have a family.
Stephany Cassandrina P. Lopez was a seven year old girl who was living in Makati.
She's happily living inside a beautiful small house with her family.
It was Stephany's 8th birthday, she woke up early because she was excited for that day. She went outside her room and she was surprised by her family "Happy 8th birthday our baby Stephy" they greeted with a smile on their faces.
She hugged them one by one and thanked them for the surprise that they gave. Stephany was so happy that time, despite of her age, she already know the importance of family. She's aware of the love that she received and continues to receive, she reciprocates the love and she already knows how to obey some rules even though she just turned 8.
After breakfast, she went back to her room because she needed to get ready for school. She was a very obedient child and student. She's always the top student and she thinks more mature than the other kids that had the same age with her.
She's done fixing her things with the help of her ate Julie. Mabilis lang siyang nakapag bihis at kailangan na nilang umalis, ayaw na ayaw niya mismo ang nale-late siya sa klase kaya naman kahit siya ang mauna sa lahat ng estudyante ay okay lang sa kanya. Wala siyang ibang kaibigan kung hindi ang kanyang sariling pamilya.
Close na close siya sa pamilya niya magmula pagkabata kaya hindi na siya mailalayo pa sa kanila.
3:00 pm was their dismissal time. It was still her birthday that is why the whole family decided to fetch her in school, driving their old owned van.
Malapit na sila sa school ng biglang maging dark ang lahat. Naging madilim ang lahat lahat para kay Stephany dahil nasaksihan niya kung paano mabangga ng isang malaking truck ang sinasakyang van ng kanyang buong pamilya.
Nagkakagulo na ang lahat sa kanyang paligid pero siya mismo'y hindi makagalaw. She knew the van that was crashed earlier was owned by them. She was just looking blankly in the van. She saw her dad na nilalabas nila. Wasak ang mukha nito at kaunti na lang ay hindi na makilala.
Sunod na inilabas ang kanyang mommy na ganun din ang kalagayan, hindi na din ito humihinga at wala ng buhay. Her world was falling apart when she saw her parents, bloody and lifeless. Hindi pa nag sisink in sa kanya ang nangyari kaya walang makitang emosyon sa kanyang mukha. Nakatayo parin siya sa waiting area kung saan kitang kita ang insidente.
Bumalik siya sa realidad ng mundo ng makita niya ang kanyang ate Julie na inilabas sa van kasama ang kanyang kuya Nathan. "Wh-what was that?" Tanging nasabi niya sa sarili niya.
She then ran into the van and pinipilit niyang makalapit sa bangkay ng kanyang pamilya pero pinipigilan siya ng mga tao. "Ano ba?! Bitawan niyo ko! Th-that is my dad!" Sigaw nito kasabay ang malakas na pag iyak habang tinuturo niya ang bangkay ng kanyang ama.
"What are you doing?! Let me go!" She shouted again. Binitawan siya ng humahawak sa kanya at tuluyan na siyang nakalapit sa katawan ng kanyang pamilya.
"It's my birthday! Anong klaseng regalo to Ma? Da? Ate Lie? Kuya Tan? Ano to?!" Pagsigaw niya at hindi alam kung sino ang lalapitan niya kaya naman yumuko nalang ito.
Sa hindi inaasahan, may isang babae ang lumapit sa kanya at niyakap siya ng mahigpit magmula sa likod.
"Bakit po sabay sabay nila akong iniwan. Birthday ko po ngayon e. Bakit?!" Paulit ulit niyang tanong habang patuloy lang na tumutulo ang mga luhang puno ng sakit at hinagpis dahil sa pagkawala ng kanyang pamilya sa mismong special na araw para sa kanya.
"Do you have someone? Kamag anak?" The girl asked her softly while still hugging her. "W-wala po" she answered.
"Okay then, I will take care of the funeral of your family" she said, Stephany looked at her, crying. "Really?" She asked, wala naman talaga siyang malapitan dahil hindi niya kilala ang mga kamag anak niya at bagong lipat lang sila sa Makati.
"What is your name, babe?" The girl asked as she gave the glass of water. Nasa bahay na sila at hinihintay na lang na maayos ang burol ng pamilya ni Stephany. "I'm Stephany po" She simply answered. "Ikaw po?" She asked in curiosity.
"Just call me tita Irene" Irene said while walking towards her. She then caressed the face of Stephany as she hugged her after. "Thank you so much for helping me t-tita Irene" she said before she flashed a small smile. "No problem" Irene said and she hugged her again.
