“What have you got for me?” Xavier asks Pearson, who does not hear him because he has earphones connected to an iPod in his lab coat pocket. When he catches sight of the two detectives, he quickly pulls out the earphones from his ears. “Don’t you have ear pods or something?” asks Xavier. “I love my earphones. Now, I could give you some fascinating details if you have some time.” He responds, and Xavier can’t help eyeing Mark to see if he shares his annoyance. Mark shrugs his shoulders. Xavier squares his and turns to Pearson. “What have you got?” “Our victim was killed somewhere between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm the night before you found her.” He speaks and allows the detectives to ponder on that piece of information. He thrives in such moments. He continues; “And get this…” he says as he motions them over to his side of the examination table. “…see these marks on her laps and arms; they are consistent with the ones I found on our first two victims.” “You are saying they were killed by the same guy?” Mark asks, eyes still on the victim. He added, “But why would he move the body in this case?” And don’t get me started on the 15 stab wounds….” Xavier commented, absent-minded. “The ligature marks on her wrists are more pronounced.” Pearson says, holding out the hands for them to see, “That indicates that she was tied up for longer and with more force. When the killer attacked her, for some reason, he was more aggressive and careless.” “But not careless enough to leave anything linking her to the murder?” Mark asks. “It would appear so,” Pearson responds. “But you can confirm that we are looking for the same guy?” He asks further. “Perhaps he was in a bad mood,” Pearson responds as he puts off the light around the table. “If I am right, you will find another victim soon if you don’t catch him.”
