"Do you always do that?" David asks, gaze fixated on her. She is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, even more so than Kim; and Kim was pretty.
"What?"
"Bite on your nails whenever you're nervous..." he responds, gently taking her hand into his, and away from the teeth that wanted nothing but to ruin her beautiful skin.
"What makes you think I'm nervous?" she asks, and he can't help but smile about the fact that she is feisty. I love them breathing fire, David thinks before responding, "I'm merely making observation."
He is right, she is nervous. She is nervous because he can't stop eyeing her like prey, and he has that smirk on his face he had the first time they met. It's like he always knows something others don't, and can't resist from showing off. She has had to master all her self-control not to run, especially since everything in her tells her to get the hell out of this restaurant. May looks around, a miserable attempt to calm her nerves but it hardly works. Not especially now that she knows he knows. Subconsciously, she can feel the sweet sensations on her skin as he rubs her wrist with his thumb. She wonders what he is thinking, and even more, what she was thinking agreeing to the dinner.
"May," he calls her to attention, "Do you want to leave? We could go for a walk." he suggests, and although leaving for her would be preferable if she were going alone, she complies. Walking is better than sitting here feeling like a piece of art in a freaking museum! She thinks before saying, "I would love that."
"So, what do you do? Besides stalk people?" May asks after walking for what feels like ages in silence. David lets out a hearty laugh, partly because she hit the nail right on the head.
"You're funny too."
"Too? What else am I? "
"Drop-dead gorgeous, witty...oh and a bit nervous."
"And you're annoying, most of the time. Also you never answer questions, at least not directly." May says, tucking a strand of hair behind her left year.
"What is it you want to know?" he asks, offering her his hand. She takes it albeit coyly, and lets out a small, silent sigh.
"You could start by answering my most previous question."
"I'm a psychiatrist."
"Seriously?"
"Seriously."
"Like a shrink?"
"Like a shrink."
"Hmm..."
"What was that?"
Giving him a one-off, she replies, "Nothing, I just never pegged you for a shrink."
After about two hours of walking and making small talk, the two lean against bridge. Below them, a stream ripples gently by, carrying with it each one's secret and wild thoughts. May thinks about how David has finally managed to calm her down, and even wonders whether he is worth a shot. He on the other hand thinks about how beautiful and seemingly naïve she is, and how he is supposed to deal with the thought of her working alongside all those men at the post. He hopes she has scruples.
