"You have to be fucking kidding me..."
Taehyun mumbles as soon as his eyes meet the tall boy that has just entered the classroom all of the sudden, his messy hair and heavy breathing indicating he had probably overslept and run to school. The blonde boy watches carefully as the guy shyly bows in the professor's direction, apologizing for being late, and then washes the entire classroom with his eyes, searching for a place to sit. When his eyes meet Taehyun's, his whole posture changes: his nervous smile transforms into a frown, and his friendly eyes become sharp and unapproachable. It was like all his cute mannerisms and sweet-looking face were replaced by totally different characteristics, showing a cold side that only Taehyun was used to seeing. And the blonde boy has no choice but to curse under his breath when Mingi makes his way to sit on the chair next to him, his eyes instantly meeting the board.
Not even a hello? Taehyun asks himself while he shamelessly stares at the taller boy next to him, not even bothering to hide the judgemental expression that is creeping out of his face. The older seemed unaffected by Taehyun's glare, looking at the board attentively as he let the professor's words make sense inside his mind. On the other hand, Taehyun couldn't care less about the lecture, the boy next to him stealing all his attention with minimum effort.
"Don't look at me like that." Mingi whispers and Taehyun jumps a little in surprise. "I can feel you staring. Stop it."
"Well, you're completely wrong. I wasn't staring at all." Taehyun looks away to a random corner of the classroom and Mingi just scoffs.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say..."
Taehyun rolls his eyes and tightens his grip on the poor pencil he was holding. He couldn't fully explain, but there was something weird about this boy, something that surpassed the terrible handshake from before and all the scary glances at the coffee shop: Taehyun had the feeling that he has seen him somewhere else before. He had been the trigger to his dramatic flashback days ago and till now everything that he remembered had happened, so it only made sense assuming that he had met Mingi before, right? Or maybe just look at him in the distance. Probably at the bar, or at a party...
"Were you at Jake's party?" He asks right after that thought and watches the boy next to him from the corner of his eye, trying to catch some change of behavior. However, Mingi seems unbothered, his hand moving quickly across the notebook.
"Can you not speak, please? I want to hear the teacher."
Taehyun ignores his answer and moves his chair closer to his. "Is that a yes?"
Mingi stays silent for while, scribbling in his notebook while thinking of what to answer. When he sees that Taehyun has no intention of letting go, he drops his pen and turns his head in his direction. "Why am I being interrogated?"
Taehyun scoffs. "Don't be dramatic. I'm just curious to know if you were at Jake's party. I know I've seen you somewhere..."
Mingi rolls his eyes and focuses back on the board. "I'm new here. And I don't know any Jake."
"I feel like you're lying..."
"And I feel like you're wasting my time, so please be quiet..."
"Well, if you didn't want to talk then why did you sit next to me?" Taehyun asks out of frustration and Mingi gives him a side-eye stare, showing no respect for the blonde boy next to him.
"I'm glad you asked. I came here to warn you." The words escape his lips in a deep tone and Taehyun is glad the older's foxy eyes are locked with the board again because he isn't sure he wants to know how much more intimidating the silver-haired boy can get. "Get away from him. I don't care what you do, just go away. Move places or something. Just go."
"What?" Taehyun asks in disbelief.
"You heard me."
"Are you talking about Beomgyu?" Mingi doesn't answer. "Why is it me that has to get away from him? He should be the one to go! And what the hell do you have to do with this? You've known him for two weeks! Who do you think you are?"
Mingi doesn't flinch, his face still blank. "I'm more than you are, that's for sure."
"Where did this come from!? You don't even know me! Do you only hate me because he's been saying shit about me?" Taehyun almost begs for answers.
"Beomgyu has never said a word about you." Well, at least not when he's sober. "I just can spot a bad person when I see them. And you're definitely one of them."
"This is so unfair. You're clearly a liar. I am exiting this conversation."
"Do it, run away from your problems like you always do." Mingi looks at him for the first time during their argument and Taehyun sighs in surprise when he realizes the older is really serious about this matter. "If you don't stay away, I'll make you."
"Is that a threat? And how can I stay away from him when he's usually the one that approaches me first?"
Mingi clenches his jaw and swallows all the bad words he wants to say right now, his patience running low. But the moment he feels like answering Taehyun with a long hurtful life lesson, the loud school ringtone echos through the corridors, and both boys start getting up, mimicking the rest of their classmates. However, the conversation isn't done there and Taehyun isn't sure when it ever will when Mingi spits his last words before turning away and leaving the classroom.
"I hope you think of our conversation at the end of this week and do what's right for once. And if you don't, I'll make it miserable for you."
